One of the obstacles in introducing Ada in undergraduate curricula has been the lack of Ada program development environments with features tailored for educational needs. GW-Ada/Ed has gone a long way towards providing such an environment. This paper describes the GW-Ada/Ed environment, how it helps to fill the void of educational Ada development environments, and some unique features of GW-Ada/Ed which makes it particularly useful in the educational environment.GW-Ada/Ed is in use as compiler support for a growing number of university courses around the world that use Ada as their laguage of discourse. We regularly receive electronic mail messages from users in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. There seems to be a large number of individual (as well as course) users, and we know from their communication with us that GW-Ada/Ed is serving as a readily available and very effective demonstration of the capabilities of Ada.
