The extended Huygens-Fresnel principle is used to develop a formulation for the average intensity distribution of a partially coherent source in a turbulent medium. The dependence of the average spot size on the beam parameters, the position of the receiving lens, and the turbulence intensity along the path is investigated. It is shown that moving the receiving lens toward the source results in a reduction of the average spot size.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
