Object-oriented features such as encapsulation, inheritance, and state dependent behavior raise new problems in softwan testing. In this paper, we describe a reverse engineering appmch for software testing of object-orienied pmgmms. The approach is based on a gmphic model which consists of three types of diagmms: object relation d i a p m , block branch diagram, and object state diagram. These diagmms may be used to 1) provide guidance on the order to test the classes and member functions; 2) prepare member function test cases; 3) prepare test cases for object state dependent hehaviors and intemction between such behaviors; and 4) provide graphic display of coverage information to a tester.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
