Abstract—Commercial online services have increased dramatically over the last decade, especially in the field of electronic commerce (EC). The rapid development of electronic commerce has allowed people to access information and interact with global businesses. This, in combination with the advent of economical and efficient electronic capabilities, has led to the rising popularity of online auctioning. The purpose of this study is to explore from customers’ perspectives what attracts them to online auction sites, and keeps them coming back. Through the use of structural equation modeling (SEM), this article provides insight into online auction customer loyalty and online customer behavior. The ways in which consumer satisfaction interacts with auction website loyalty (the essence of the business-consumer relationship) are discussed. Furthermore, suggestions are made as to how online auction website managers can use these findings to implement and improve upon marketing strategies

The total value of purchased goods and online services reached 327 billion US dollars in 2002. Such exponential growth has influenced the establishment of electronic commerce. Understanding online consumers is important in today’s economy. However, online sales remain relatively low compared to traditional retailing. It is also important to understand buyer motivation and the satisfaction of online customers after making a purchase. We test this with a questionnaire-based empirical study. The practical and theoretical implications discussed may help Web designers, developers, and managers understand consumer online shopping habits.</span></span></span></p>
Purpose – Achievement is considered to be an important value for students. The purpose of this paper is to explore what achievement values were derived from playing massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), especially for high-engaged MMORPGs players. Design/methodology/approach – The research employed two approaches to collect data: focus group and a web survey of online game players were conducted. Moreover, an addiction-engagement scale was used to ensure all participants were genuinely highly engaged MMORPGs players in data collection process. There are 12 highly engaged players were recruited as focus group members in Phase 1. The online survey yielded 315 responses, of which 267 were considered valid, and 177 of those were considered to be genuine highly engaged players in Phase 2. In the study, exploratory factor analysis was performed to reveal underlying structure of achievement values. Findings – The result focussing on popular MMORPGs reveal that highly engaged players derived six achievement values from playing MMORPGs, including fantasy satisfaction, adventure, victory, socialization ability, self-actualization, and advancement of wealth and status. Originality/value – In view of the prevalence of MMORPGs, it is imperative to draw attention to understand students’ achievement values derived from playing MMORPGs. By doing that, educators know how to bridge students’ achievement values to their academic performance.
Abstract—Determination of requirements is critical for development of a new information system prior to the IS design. A good system design not only fulfills user needs, but is also a required concern for specific and future development in industry. Past researches show many tools have been introduced to generate information system requirements; however, they lack cause-effect relationships among factors. The purpose of this study is to identify system requirements and their cause-effect relationship determination process to serve emerging needs. The goal of this study is to assess potential organization needs in order to get a better foundation for system development and effectiveness. Case study and mental models approach were used to demonstrate the relationships between the requirements for a new system. The results indicate leading vendor effect, management support, and user needs are important for system development. These findings should heighten organization information systems selecting and investment decisions.
