Organizational capabilities are seen as the firm context in which the organization members work in order to contribute to growth of the firm. Thus, inadequate organizational capabilities have resulted to numerous problems for many Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with growing difficulties in their ability to perform and attain sustainable growth. Numerous researches relating to organizational capabilities and firm’s growth have been conducted in the literature but none of these have examined the implications of organizational capability on firm’s growth. This research therefore examined the implications of organizational capability on firm’s growth, its implications of SMEs in Anambra State. The research employed a descriptive research design. The study population was one hundred and fifty-two business owners and managers of selected SMEs in Anambra State. Complete enumeration was used. Primary data was used and was collected using questionnaires. The questionnaire was validated using face and content validity. Reliability of the instrument was done with Cronbach Alpha indicates high internal consistency. Data collected was analyzed using correlation analysis. Findings from the study indicated that research and development capability have no significant positive relationship on firm’s growth, while human resource capability has a significant positive relationship on firm’s growth. The study concluded that organizational capabilities are key success factor for driving firm’s growth among SMEs in Anambra State, Nigeria. The study recommended that for SMEs to achieve sustainable growth, business owners and managers should increase their degree of firm’s interaction with the environment and add more value to human resources capability.
This study validates the relevance of Lean strategy in Nigerian pharmaceutical companies in Anambra State. Specifically, the study ascertained the effect of lean manufacturing approach on efficiency of pharmaceutical companies in Anambra State and determine the effect of lean manufacturing approach on competitiveness of pharmaceutical companies in Anambra State. The study adapted a descriptive survey research design since the study is to distribute questionnaires to the respondents. The population of the study consists of 80 staff of 6 selected pharmaceutical companies in Anambra State. Data were collected through the questionnaires administered to respondents. T-test statistical tool was used to test the two hypotheses with the aid of SPSS version 20. 0 at 5% level of significance. The study revealed that lean manufacturing approach has effect on operational efficiency of Pharmaceutical Companies in Anambra State. Findings of the study provided support that lean contributed in integrated value chain supply and competitiveness in manufacturing companies. Therefore, the study concluded that lean manufacturing approach has effect on efficiency and competitiveness of pharmaceutical companies in Anambra State. Based on the findings, the study recommended that manufacturing companies should strive to adopt lean thinking approaches, principles and practices so as to reduce inherent variations with suppliers and demand from customers for greater effectiveness of the company.
This study examined the effect of work environment on job performance of commercial banks in Nigeria. Specifically, the study ascertains the effect of psychosocial environment and work life balance on job performance of commercial banks in Nigeria. This study adopted survey research design. The sample of the study consists of all the 16 branches of five (5) commercial banks in Nigeria. The researcher used primary data. Data were collected form questionnaires distributed to the respondents. The data collected was analyzed in a tabular form and regression analysis was used with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20.0. The study revealed that psychosocial environment and work life Balance has a positive significant effect on job performance of commercial banks in Nigeria. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended among others that bank should provide enabling work environment in terms of physical facilities for their employees because this substantially increases employees’ productivity.
