This paper presents a dual-view (DV) liquid crystal display (LCD) fabricated with a twisted nematic (TN) cell that has patterned electrodes on its substrates. The TN DV LCD effectively inhibits the bright state light leakage in the un-intended viewing direction, improving the contrast ratio of the DV LCD when the right and the left subpixels of the DV LCD are addressed simultaneously. In the preferred viewing direction, the TN DV LCD has a high contrast ratio of 140:1.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss an optimal operation and schedule of commerce air-conditioning system by considering the demand response in order to obtain the maximal benefit; this paper first collects the operating data of the chiller units in commercial users, calculates the cooling load of each unit, and derives the relationship between the cooling loads and power consumption of each unit. The weather information, such as temperature and humidity of inside/outside, are collected in the EXECL database, and the cooling load of the mall’s space is simulated by using the Least Square Support Vector Machine (LSSVM). Under the selected plan of power reduction, the requirement of space cooling loads, and the various operation constraints, the dispatch model of the commerce air-conditioning system with demand response strategies is formulated to minimize the total cost. A Modify Particle Swarm Optimization with Time-Varying Acceleration Coefficients (MPSO-TVAC) is proposed to solve the daily economic dispatch of the air-conditioning system. In the MPSO-TVAC procedure, the dynamic control parameters are embedded in the particle swarm of the PSO-TVAC in order to improve the behavior patterns of each particle swarm and increase its search efficiency in high dimensions. Different modifications in moving patterns of MPSO-TVAC are proposed to search the feasible space more effectively. By using MPSO-TVAC, it provides an optimal mechanism for variables regulated to increase the efficiency of the performing search and look for the probability of an optimal solution. Simulation results also provide an efficient method for commercial users to reduce their electricity bills and raise the ability of the market’s competition.
This paper proposes a fault diagnosing system for the Ice-Storage Air-Conditioning System (ISACS) to supervise the operation conditions of the brine chillers. Combining the Radial Basis Function Network (RBFN) and Robust Quality Design (RQD), an Enhanced RBFN (ERBFN) is proposed to pursue fast and accurate fault diagnosis. The RQD method is used to adjust the parameters in the RBFN training stage to improve the searching ability, and good performance with a close spike tracking capability can be seen. The efficiency of the brine chiller in the ISACS was considered as the quality characteristics, the values measured by all instruments were considered as control factors, and noise factors were abnormal variable control factors in the system. ERBFN can improve the efficiency of the ISACS and prevent the equipment from being damaged without warning. ERBFN is used for fault diagnosis to ensure the ISACS performance is normal. Experimental results are provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The new artificial neural network algorithm proposed in this paper was successfully applied to the fault diagnosis of ISACS. It not only provides a reference for enterprises but can also be applied to studies on other topics in the future.
In this paper, the Ant-based Radial Basis Function Network (ARBFN) is proposed to determine the optimal daily dispatch of ice-storage air-conditioning systems. ARBFN is a novel algorithm that is integrated into the Ant Colony Optimization and Radial Basis Function Network. ARBFN is used to construct the function of the cost and operation for each chiller and ice-storage tank and is used to simulate the polynomial function of the cooling load and the cost of power consumption. The best learning rate in the training process is adjusted in ARBFN to improve the accuracy of constructing models for chillers and ice-storage tanks. The electricity savings are thus 4.130% on a summer day and 7.381% on a non-summer day. The results have shown that ARBFN can more accurately calculate the actual power consumption and cooling capability of each chiller and ice-storage tank. Lastly, ACO is used to calculate the daily dispatch of the ice-storage air-conditioning system. The results demonstrated the optimization of energy savings and efficiency for the operation of the ice-storage air-conditioning system.
