A new metal-free protocol is described for the synthesis of terminal acetals by tandem oxidative rearrangement of olefins using oxone as an oxidant in the presence of iodine. Moreover, a one-pot procedure for the preparation of glycol mono esters from olefins is also presented for the first time using the same reagent system.
A catalytic amount of Mob enables tetrahydropyranylation of various alcohols, phenols and naphthols under mild reaction conditions at room temperature in moderate to excellent yields within short reaction times is presented. The catalyst Mob is reused without significant loss of activity. The product isolation is simple and environmentally benign.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
