Resumo: O objetivo de estudo foi investigar o consumo de chás em crianças de 0 à 6 meses de idade. Consiste em uma pesquisa de campo, exploratória, descritiva de abordagem quantitativa, desenvolvida no Centro de Saúde da Mulher na cidade de Barbalha -CE. A coleta de dados aconteceu por meio de entrevista semiestruturada. Os critérios de inclusão foram estar no local e disponibilizar-se a participar, sendo excluídas as mães deficientes auditivas ou que não completaram a entrevista. O estudo foi constituído por 65 mulheres-mães, com idade média de 27,92 ± 7,98 anos de idade, entre os lactentes 53,8% eram do sexo feminino e 46,2% do sexo masculino. Quanto ao consumo de líquidos das crianças antes dos seis meses, 70,8% estavam em aleitamento materno exclusivo, 15,4% fizeram a ingesta de algum tipo de chá, 6,2% receberam água, 4,6% fazia uso de fórmula láctea e chá. Assim, verificou-se um alto consumo de líquidos ofertados precocemente, dentre eles o chá apresentou maior frequência. It consists in a field research, exploratory, descriptive, of a quantitative approach, developed in the women's health center in the town of Barbalha -CE. The data collection occurred through semi-structured interviews. The inclusion criteria were being on the place and offer to participate, being excluded mothers with hearing loss or who did not complete the interview. The study was composed by 65 women-mothers, with an average age of 27.92 ± 7.98 years old, among infants 53.8% were female and 46.2% male. In relation to the consumption of liquids of children before the age of six months old, 70.8% were receiving exclusive breastfeeding, 15.4% did the ingestion of some kind of tea, 6.2% received water, 4.6% made use of milk formula and tea. Thus, there was a high consumption of liquids offered early, among them the tea presented higher frequency.
