Disruptive Innovations (DI) are those generated by new technologies that have the power to change the value proposition of a market and, even though they may begin appealing only to smaller clients segments. Eventually, they go upmarket and cause "disruption" challenging the leading established organizations. We believe that Competitive Intelligence (CI) can be used as a dynamic strategy and a structured process of acquisition, analysis, and dissemination of information and of knowledge creation to help these established organizations to better anticipate, understand and respond to the challenges of disruptive innovations in their industries. Through a theoretical essay based on a thorough literature review on the themes, we evaluated if and how IC can help these organizations. The study was justified mainly by the lack of previous works relating the two constructs (CI and DI), and we focused on the perspective of the established organization (incumbent) instead of the perspective of the disruptive companies (new entrants). We believe these discussions may benefit scholars in the fields of CI and Innovation and practitioners from different industries that are being or may be challenged in the future by this kind of innovation. Key words: Competitive Intelligence, Disruptive Innovation, Weak Signals.Resumo: Inovações Disruptivas (ID) são aquelas geradas por novas tecnologias que têm o poder de mudar a proposta de valor de um mercado e, ainda que comecem apenas em segmentos menores de clientes, eventualmente ganham o mercado principal e causam "disrupção" desafiando as empresas estabelecidas líderes. Pressupõe-se que a Inteligência Competitiva (IC) pode ser usada como uma estratégia dinâmica e um processo estruturado de coleta, análise e disseminação de informação e de geração de conhecimento para ajudar estas empresas estabelecidas a anteciparem, compreenderem e responderem melhor aos desafios de inovações disruptivas em suas indústrias. Por meio de um ensaio teórico baseado em extensa revisão bibliográfica sobre os temas, avaliou-se se e como a IC pode auxiliar estas organizações. A realização do estudo justificou-se principalmente pela escassez de trabalhos prévios relacionando os dois construtos (IC e ID) e optou-se pela ótica da empresa estabelecida (incumbente) e não das empresas disruptivas (entrantes). Acredita-se que estas discussões podem beneficiar estudiosos nos campos de IC e de Inovação e profissionais de diferentes indústrias que estejam sendo ou que possam ser futuramente desafiados por este tipo de inovação. Digital transformation and service innovation are two contemporary themes and extremely relevant to the organizational and economic context. The objective of this study is to analyze and structure the relationship between the two themes bringing an update of academic publications that address this relation. For doing so, a systematic literature review was conducted based on the databases Scopus and World of Science in August 2022. The resultant articles were the base for the corpus of this investigation through an inductive process (as there were no pre-defined categories). Through a triangulation process among the different articles, 10 (ten) different categories that related digital transformation and service innovation emerged. The main concepts of the articles were organized in each of these 10 categories. Later, these 10 categories were divided in three dimensions: factors that influence digital transformation, factors that influence the relationship between digital transformation and service innovation and results of innovation. Finally, a theoretical and schematic model was proposed organizing the dimensions, categories and main concepts that emerged from the literature. This study may contribute for the understanding of the relationship between both phenomena both for academic and professional purposes.
RESUMOA indústria da música gravada vem sendo afetada por mudanças no ambiente tecnológico, principalmente relacionadas às tecnologias digitais e o impacto dessas novas tecnologias no comportamento do consumidor em relação à música gravada. Novas organizações surgiram e conseguiram aproveitar a inovação tecnológica para desenvolver serviços digitais que conseguiram criar valor para o consumidor, enquanto capturavam valor para criar um negócio sustentável. Esta pesquisa visa verificar a associação dessas inovações tecnológicas com a criação e captura de valor, como forma de explicar seu surgimento e crescimento. Este estudo pretende preencher uma lacuna conceitual que existe em relação à dinâmica populacional das organizações no mercado de música gravada, ao mesmo tempo, avançar nas pesquisas sobre a influência dos processos de inovação tecnológica e a criação e captura de valor das novas organizações na indústria da música gravada.
