A Case of Competitive Demethylation by Boron Tribromide-Methyl Sulfide Complex. A New Route to Oxazoloquinolines.-A one-pot synthesis of oxazoloquinolines (II) from substituted quinolines (I) by demethylation with boron tribromide-methyl sulfide is reported. The same way is used for the synthesis of (V). Steric hindrance by bulky R 1 or R 2 groups diminishes the yield.-(BEVIERE, C.; ROCHER, R.; CHENAULT, J.; Synth. Commun. 28 (1998) 6, 945-948; Lab. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
