In this work we make use of proper-time method to evaluate Schwinger effect in the presence of Lorentz-violating background fields. Specifically, we evaluate the one-loop effective Lagrangian in the presence of Lorentz-violating time-like vector background $$b_\mu $$

and pseudo-scalar $$m_5$$

for the pure electric case. The imaginary part of the effective Lagrangian is computed in order to calculate the Schwinger effect. Comments on phenomenology are also performed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
