The study of radiation entrance and exit dynamics and energy consumption in a system is important for understanding the environmental processes that rule the biosphere-atmosphere interactions of all ecosystems. This study provides an analysis of the interaction of energy in the form of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) in the Pantanal, a Brazilian wetland forest, by studying the variation of PAR reflectance and its interaction with local rainfall. The study site is located in Private Reserve of Natural Heritage, Mato Grosso State, Brazil, where the vegetation is a monodominant forest of Vochysia divergens Phol. The results showed a high correlation between the reflection of visible radiation and rainfall; however, the behavior was not the same at the three heights studied. An analysis of the hourly variation of the reflected waves also showed the seasonality of these phenomena in relation to the dry and rainy seasons. A predictive model for PAR was developed with a neural network that has a hidden layer, and it showed a determination coefficient of 0.938. This model showed that the Julian day and time of measurements had an inverse association with the wind profile and a direct association with the relative humidity profile.
ResumoA desistência é uma problemática que afeta, atualmente, muitas Instituições de Ensino Superior. As origens dessas evasões vêm sendo investigadas, por muitos pesquisadores, com o intento de compreendê-las e elaborar, a partir das observações feitas, ações que mitiguem essa realidade. O objetivo do estudo foi conhecer o perfil dos alunos de Engenharia da Computação e Engenharia de Automação do IFMT – Campus Cuiabá, também, compreender quais fatores podem estar contribuindo para que estes estejam desejosos ou pré-dispostos a abandonarem o curso. Por se tratar de uma pesquisa com seres humanos, foi necessária a submissão e aprovação de projeto pelo Comitê de Ética de Pesquisa do IFMT e se baseou em um questionário que, depois de aplicado aos alunos, foi posteriormente submetido à análise de suas respostas. Em suma, percebeu-se que as principais causas que, a priori, estejam relacionadas às desistências podem ser: a necessidade de alguns alunos terem que trabalhar para ajudar no sustento da família; as poucas horas de estudo extraclasse destinadas ao curso e, por último, uma falta de afinidade com a Graduação, tendo em vista que esta não era sua primeira opção de escolha profissional. Palavras-chave: Questionário. Evasão. Engenharias. Abstract Dropout is a problem that affects many higher education institutions today. The origins of such evasions have been investigated by many researchers with the intention of understanding them and elaborating, based on the observations made, actions that mitigate this reality. The objective of the study was to know the students’ profile of Computer Engineering and Automation Engineering at IFMT - Campus Cuiabá, also, to understand what factors may be contributing for them to be willing or ready to abandon the course. As it is a research with human beings, it was necessary to submit and approve the project by the IFMT Research Ethics Committee and it was based on a questionnaire which, after being applied to students, was subsequently submitted for analysis of their responses. In short, it was noticed that the main causes that, a priori, are related to dropouts can be: the need for some students to have to work to help support the family; the few hours of extra-class study aimed at the course and, lastly, a lack of affinity with undergraduate degree, considering that this was not his or her first professional choice. Resumo Tendo em vista reclamações de vários professores de Física do Ensino Médio que a grande maioria de seus alunos não compreendem cálculos de Matemática básica, que envolvem a disciplina que ministram, objetivou-se no presente artigo detectar tais dificuldades matemáticas, que mais tarde poderão desencadear em percalços na compreensão de conceitos das disciplinas de Física. Visando esse fim, o artigo mostra o desempenho obtido por 184 alunos do primeiro ano do Ensino Médio em um teste de sondagem matemática de Ensino Fundamental, constituído por 17 questões abertas, aplicado a sete cursos técnicos integrados de nível médio de uma escola pública federal na cidade de Cuiabá no primeiro dia de aula desses estudantes. O teste abordava conceitos aritméticos e geométricos muito importantes para as disciplinas de Física, que compõem a grade curricular dos cursos da escola. Observou-se que cerca de 84% dos que realizaram o teste acertaram menos da metade das questões e que aproximadamente 52,8% deles acertaram entre zero e três questões. Teve pior desempenho na sondagem o curso de Agrimensura, enquanto o melhor desempenho ocorreu no curso de Eletrônica. Vale ressaltar que o resultado aqui obtido na rainha das ciências não deve ser uma particularidade desta instituição específica, mas sim um reflexo conjuntural e, portanto, não se restringe a esta última. Abstract Given the complaints of several high school physics teachers that the vast majority of their students do not understand basic math calculations that involve the subject they teach, the aim of this article was to detect such mathematical difficulties that may later lead to mishaps in the concepts understanding of the subject Physics. For this purpose, the article shows the performance obtained by 184 first-year high school students in an elementary school math probing test, consisting of 17 open questions, applied to seven technical courses high school graduates of a federal public school in the city of Cuiabá on the first day of school for these students. The test addressed arithmetic and geometric concepts that are very important for the subjects of Physics that make up the syllabus of the school's courses. It was observed that about 84% of those who took the test obtained less than half of the questions right and that approximately 52.8% of them obtained between zero and three questions right. The surveying course had the worst performance in the survey, while the best performance occurred in the Electronics course. It is noteworthy that the result obtained here in the Queen of Sciences should not be a particularity of this specific institution, but rather a conjunctural reflection and, therefore, it is not restricted to the latter.
