This essay is part of an undergoing investigation of interdisciplinary nature between the fields of Design and Assisted Technology. Starting from the principle based in Kerckhove (1998) ideas, that each technology extends one of our faculties and transcends our physical limitations, we want to get the best extensions of our body. The focus of this study is to produce an interactive book in bilingual digital format (Brazilian Sign Language -LIBRAS and Portuguese) by means of an investigation encompassing relations of design, information technology and communication. The aim, thus, is the development of a hypermedia environment that helps the process of reading for deaf children, but not exclusively. In this paper will be presented a summary of the methodological process in which the research is founded, and part of the first stage of investigation, in other words, the study of similar and the foundation for developing the narrative envisioning an adequate project of visual, verbal and sound language in order to collaborate with the process of interpretation and construction of the meaning of information that will be made available. The research project encompassing this study was funded by Brazilian development agencies, the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development, an agency of Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology (CNPq) and Innovation and Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Faperj). The intention of this study is to found and develop means that enable relationships between knowledge about necessities and potentialities of deaf children and to make available a book that might stimulate their development and, in consequence, facilitate their inclusion in society.Design. Narrative. Media. Technology. Inclusion.
This paper has as its starting point a research project entitled "Design and the contemporary digital technologies in learning process" approved, in 2014, by the scientific notice MCTI/CNPQ/Universal 14/2014 and from a research project entitled "Bilingual digital literature (LIBRAS and Portuguese)" that intends to the development of scientific, technological and innovation researches which involves new languages, projective elements and new possibilities for presentation of information by using different elements available in contemporary technologies. Among them, we can highlight the interaction, the navigation, the hypertextual levels, the connectivity, the mobility and the responsive design issues as well as informational, cognitive and projective questions that are established in different and new areas. Thus, the project will present a theoretical research combined with the conceptual basis for the development of digital interactive literature that helps the educational process. In addition, it is planned to provide a continuation of the digital book, which served as this project basis, looking forward to provide the production of an e-book collection for tablets, or similar, with multiple language narrative in hypermedia environments whose theme is the city of Rio de Janeiro.Arts. Design. Technology. Inclusion. Visual Cultureon.
This paper presents a project directed towards the production of a book in two versions, printed and digital, with the provisional title of "Design, Education and Technology: support for teaching Hypermedia Design, which constitutes a didactic material to support teaching and research activities for the Design area. The starting point was the work by Dr. Cristina Portugal, funded by National Council for Scientific and Technological Development-CNPq, as a scholarship researcher in a Post-PhD internship in the Graduate Studies in Design Program. Besides the theoretical content itself, the project for the aforementioned book includes studies on information architecture, layout, programming language and navigability, among other aspects. The book will gather issues about Design, Education and Hypermedia aimed at offering resources to enhance the use of multiple languages that converge in hypermedia environments, their applicability, techniques and methods in light of Design in Situations of Teaching-Learning. The content for producing didactic material, the object of this project, is partially concluded.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
