Bijori Formation, generally equated to the Raniganj Formation (Upper Permian) of Damodar Basin, contains a striated-disaecate dominant mioflora with abundantly represented Densipollenites and Corisaccites-Guttulapollenites and also some other miospores indicating a Permo-Triassic affinity. In the Lower Gondwana deposits of Indian Peninsula, Densipollenites-rich assemblages are characteristic of the coal-less facies towards the close of Raniganj Formation (Upper Permian). but in Satpura Basin comparable mioflora with some definite younger elements seems to exhibit Lower Triassic influence in the Upper Bijoris. By the discovery of this mioflora. the presence of a distinctive assemblage having a Lower Panchet affinity is indicated towards the top of Bijori Formation. There is, Obviously, a big scope for similar studies in the whole of Satpura Basin.
A mioflora from Northern Satpura Basin has been found to contain radial monosaccate miospore genera, alongwith abundant alete miospores. Its similarity with the mioflora of Umaria marine beds is suggestive of Late Talchir age and the marine palaeo-environment.
The miospore assemblage from the coal of Argada 'S' seam, South Karanpura Coalfield, has been described and compared with similar miofloras of the other coalfields of Indian Lower Gondwanas. This miospore assemblage c1osely resembles the mioflora of the shale associated with Argada 'S' seam described by Lele and Kulkarni (1969). In view of the mioflora from a shale band 70' above the Argada 'S' seam described by Lele and Kulkarni (1969) being similar to the mioflora of the Giridih Coalfield described by Maithy (1965), the type area for the Karharbari Stage, Argada 'S' seam has been considered older than the Karharbari Stage of Giridih Coalfield. However, in view of striking difference between the mioflora of Argada 'S' seam and that of the Talchir Stage, it is suggested that Argada 's' seam should be considered as a part of Karharbari Stage and as compared to the Karharbari Stage in the Giridih Coalfield, it should be recognized as of Lower Karharbari Stage.
