A scanning light spot technique was used to measure the transfer efficiency of 8- and 64-bit charge-coupled device shift registers. Efficiencies of 99·87±0·03 for 64-bit devices are reported.
The optimum operating conditions for an 8-bit three-phase p-channel CCD were established. This was done by studying the electrical output and the transfer efficiency as a function of six variables: the input and output gate voltage and the clock voltage, overlap, offset and frequency. A transfer efficiency of 99·9±0·1% was recorded for the best devices using a scanning light spot efficiency measurement technique.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
