A Advocacia-Geral da União, em sua atual gestão, aderiu à Agenda Ambiental na Administração Pública – A3P, como uma das ações vinculadas ao lema “AGU cidadã”, através da assinatura de um termo de compromisso com o Ministério do Meio Ambiente. A A3P é um programa de gestão ambiental na Administração Pública, que visa à inserção da perspectiva ambiental nas atividades diárias, a partir de uma mudança de hábitos e de cultura institucional, para promover na AGU práticas que contribuam para a preservação ambiental, combatendo o desperdício e gerando economia de recursos públicos. Desse modo, a AGU, em uma prática pioneira de advocacia cidadã, num contexto de crise ambiental global, com a participação de todos os servidores, atende ao mandamento constitucional ínsito no art. 225, que preconiza como direito e dever de todos a promoção do equilíbrio ambiental e sadia qualidade de vida.
