-This study was carried out to classify the folk plants in southern region of Gangwon-do. According to the survey results from 1,103 survey sheets of 83 residents at 32 places of 9 counties and cities from March to October, 2010, the folk plants in the southern region of Gangwon-do consisted of a total 311 taxa; 92 families, 222 genera, 274 species, 2 subspecies, 29 varieties, and 6 form. The use by its usage was: 227 taxa; Edible, 174 taxa; Medicinal, 14 taxa; Ornamental, 5 taxa; Oil, 5 taxa; Spice, 4 taxa; Dye, 1 taxa; Fiber, 1 taxa; Aroma, 1 taxa; Fuel, 32 taxa; Others, respectively, so the edible use is the highest. The most useful part was the leaf, followed by root and fruit. The consistency comparison between the scientific name and the local name were the highest in the 50's and the lowest in 80's.
The identity of Dioscorea coreana (Prain & Burkill) R. Kunth is recognized during the re-identification process of Korean Dioscorea specimens. Given the relatively few pieces of information, including few descriptions and research papers, this species has been misidentified as D. tokoro, which has a similar leaf shape, but D. coreana is distinguished from D. tokoro by the absence of a pedicel in the male flower, the green color of the tepal, and the shapes of the fruit and seed. Thus, detailed descriptions, illustrations, and photographs of D. coreana and a key to the Korean Dioscorea, including this species, are presented.
The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between growth characteristics and ginsenoside contents of 4year-old wild-simulated ginseng cultivated in different regions. Most of the soil properties except for available phosphate showed significantly higher in Pyeongchang than in other cultivation sites. The growth characteristics except for root length and number of rootlets showed significantly higher in Pyeongchang than in other cultivation sites. In the case of 8 ginsenoside contents, the content of F2-AS was significantly higher in Muju than in other cultivation sites and the content of F1 in Yeongju was significantly high. In Yeongwol, the contents of Rb1 and Re-p were significantly high and the content of Ro in Pyeongchang showed significantly higher than in other cultivation sites. Root length and soil pH did not show a significant correlation with any soil properties and growth characteristics of wild-simulated ginseng, respectively. Most of the growth characteristics showed significantly positive correlations with electrical conductivity, organic matter content, total nitrogen content, exchangeable cations (K + , Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ ), and cation exchange capacity. Rb1 and Re-p showed significantly negative correlations with most of the growth characteristics of wildsimulated ginseng except for the number of rootlets. Ro showed a significantly positive correlation with stem length, number of leaflets per stem, leaflet length, leaflet width, and root diameter. The results of this study probably will help to provide useful information on the establish a quality standard by investigate correlation analysis between growth characteristics and ginsenoside content of 4-year-old wild-simulated ginseng. A palynological study of genus Dioscorea L. in Korea was conducted to evaluate the taxonomic implications. As a result of confirming the palynological characteristics of seven taxa of Dioscorea L., including six that are distributed in Korea and D. tokoro found in Japan, sections or species were classified according to the characteristics, such as the number of apertures, the polar end shape, and exine sculpturing. Specifically, the exine sculptures of D. coreana and D. tokoro, erroneously known to be distributed in Korea, are distinguished. The change in the number of apertures is closely associated with microsporogenesis, and it can be presumed that disulcate pollen might have been derived from monosulcate pollen in Dioscorea.
