AbstractThis paper addresses the feasibility of using a Natural Gas Hydrate, NGH, transport-system to economically convey remote, stranded, and/or associated natural gas to market. Such a transport system could convey NGH either on retrofitted crude oil carriers, carrying both NGH and oil, or on new custom-built carrier designed specifically for NGH.
Chapter 2 Overview of Lift-in Construction 2 Overview of Lift-in Construction The lift-in method of constructing navigation structures uses conventional marine equipment and techniques. It entails several important construction stages. The first stage is prefabrication of strong and durable precast concrete modules that assume the exterior shape of the final structure (e.g., locks, approach walls, still basins, tainter gate sills). The modules are fabricated in a construction basin on the riverbank or on barges. Then, the modules are outfitted with the permanent attachment (e.g., bulkheads and tainter gates) and the necessary construction attachments (e.g., lift frames and hydraulic jack).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
