The research work has been conducted to examine the impact of age, total expense, total investment, and turnover ratio on financial performance of mutual funds in Nepal. Out of 29 mutual funds reported by Nepal Stock Exchange Ltd (as on 15 January, 2022), a total of 10 mutual funds following judgmental sampling technique have been selected as sample of the study. Samples are selected with the objective of getting 32 months data (from 12-Feb 2019 to 16-Sep 2021) resulted 320 observations. The required balanced panel data have been extracted from the monthly reports published on respective websites. Based on the regression result, it has been found that the age, total investment and turnover ratio have significant positive impact on net asset value but the magnitude of turnover ratio is negligible. However, impact of total expense on net asset value is positive but not found significant. The result can give mutual fund managers an insight on improving funds performance. On the other hand, the result can be helpful to investors in deciding their investment on mutual funds. Analysis with adding more variables will be beneficial in increasing the generalizability of the findings.
In today’s digitalized workplace, workplace incivility and cyberloafing have become major concerns for many corporate and government organizations all over the world. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of cyberloafing and workplace rudeness on workers. The study took a quantitative approach, administered a set of survey questionnaire, and collected response from 135 employees from three rural municipalities in Kaski district. Different descriptive and inferential statistical analysis tools were applied to draw the conclusion. Results showed that the cyber loafing and employee productivity had a weak significant positive relationship (0.320) whereas work incivility and employee productivity had a negative co-relationship (-0.304). Similarly, the regression result reveled a significant low magnitude of impact of cyberloafing and workplace incivility (0.443 and -0.445 coefficient respectively) on employee productivity. This research underlines the necessity for local governments to put policies in place that discourages uncivil behavior at workplace and prevent employees from the tendency of cyberloafing, as doing so can help to increase worker productivity.
This paper aims to measure the level of employee engagement and to propose employee engagement framework. Following two-step sampling method, a questionnaire survey was conducted among the employees of fifteen media houses. The results of the survey are analyzed with the help of SPSS 18 version. Majority of the employees of Nepalese media houses have been found being engaged to their job. The findings confirm that five HR practices: performance appraisal and recognition; participatory culture; working facility; communication; and job and resources are the determinants of employee engagement. Among those, performance appraisal and recognition, and participatory culture, should be the major focus of human resource managers to make the employees engaged. Additionally, the paper can serve as a reference and an analytical tool to researchers for expanding knowledge on the topic.
Following random effect GLS model, this study aims at examining the consequence of credit performance and capital adequacy of Nepalese commercial banks. For the analysis, the balanced panel data of 19 commercial banks have judgmentally been selected and used. The researcher took credit to deposit ratio (CDR), interest rate spread (IRS), non-performing loan ratio (NPLR) and capital adequacy ratio (CAR) as the predictors of profitability measured by return on assets (ROA) of the banks. The results indicate that the study predictors are significant in defining variation on ROA. The variables CDR and NPLR have significant negative impact on ROA. In contrast, the predictors IRS and CAR have positive consequence on ROA. However, the relationship between CAR and ROA is statistically insignificant. Results of the study can contribute as an important input to regulatory body in developing policy so as to make banking operation effective.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
