This study aimed to determine which domain in the social support significantly influenced the learning and development of grade six students. The quantitative, non-experimental design utilizing causal effect was used in the study. The respondents were the 179 grade six students from Zone two of New Corella District in the Division of Davao del Norte who were chosen through random sampling. Mean, Pearson-r, and Linear Regression Analysis were the statistical tools used in the study. This study revealed that the social support to grade six students in terms of family, peers and nonrelative adult was very high. Also, student learning and development was very high in terms of physical health and well-being, social connectedness, social and emotional development, school experiences, and use of after school time. The correlation coefficient between variables of this study revealed very high positive significant relationship between social support and student learning and development.Nonrelative adult support revealed as the domain of social support that best predicted the student learning and development of grade six students.
This study aimed to analyze selected Kagan poems; understand their poem preservation and hopes about their literature, culture and the tribe. The qualitative design using archetypal criticism and phenomenological approaches were employed. Corpora were downloaded from credible resource in the internet and with cultural significance of 14 Kagan tribesmen from Tagum City, Davao del Norte. Results shown in archetypal analysis symbols were: sweetheart, heart, marriage, work, lover, past days, strength of my body, life, world, feast, days and nights, trouble, death, healing, snake, secret, handkerchief, tigers, lions and elephant, cliff, wild chicken, kingfisher and hawk, old woman, old man, oldest boy, water, ring, nice clothes, yellow, tomb, celebration, seventh mountain, river of Jordan, God, horses with wings, golden palace, mosque, gold, old couple and child. For Second research question, emerged themes were: use poems as lullaby, teach poems to the youth, let children repeatedly recite the poems and showcase the poems in social gatherings and special occasions. Last research question elicited themes were: poems and literature be preserved, literature be handed down from one generation to another generation, continuously educate the youth about Kagan literature and practices, use modern technology as archive of Kagan literature, Kagan's cultural identity as tribe be reflected in poems and Kagan literature and cultural practices be appreciated. Hence, archetypal features from the corpora provided that these were culturally significant and universally accepted.
This study aimed to determine the difficulty faced by students in interpreting literary text.Also, this study opted to identify how learners cope with their difficulty. This study employed phenomenological approach. Focus group and in-depth interview were employed to solicit responses from the participants. The result revealed that the challenges faced by students were lack of prior knowledge, poor vocabulary and lack of awareness of literary devices. Moreover, in order to cope with the situation, students tend ask help from teacher, collaborate with their peers and make use of available learning materials to further enrich themselves.
This study aimed to review theoretical perspectives concerning language assessment in the midst of the pandemic as it shifted from traditional to online mode of assessment. Furthermore, this paper also aimed to identify issues raised relative to the shift of assessment. Finally, literatures from different studies were utilized to gather insights in the light of online language assessment.
The views of students on the novel of Jose Rizal, Noli Me Tangere had an impact on how the students give value to the works of Jose Rizal. This research was conceptualized to analyze the different perspectives of students and their challenges in understanding the novel. This study employed phenomenological study among the 14 students who already took up the literature subject. The result revealed that the novel helped them remember past events, uncover the social issues of the past and as their guide in understanding present and the future.This result helps the teacher on how to deal with students who have different views and opinions about the novel.
