One of the most meaningful milestones in pre-service teaching training involving research skills is the bachelor's thesis process. This study seeks to identify the structural and methodological characteristics of the thesis work for the primary school teaching, nursery school teaching and special education programs of a Chilean university. Using a retrospective quantitative methodology, bibliometric indicators were elicited from 383 theses between the years 2010 and 2019 by means of a pre-piloted form. Results showed that there is a high compliance with the structural aspect of the thesis, while in the methodological aspect, the discussion section was found to be not as strong. Altogether, the theses include the formal aspects of its structure allowing for a well-organized scientific inquiry. However, improved methodological tools are required to better implement and conduct research toward aspects of pedagogical reflection.
