This paper compares the properties of a rectangular electrostatic speaker with a circular one. To achieve this, different prototypes were built with the same radiation area (approximately 230 cm2). The radiation diagrams were drawn and distortion measurements were taken so as to establish a correlation between the THD and the different coating resistances of the diaphragm. From the results obtained, the intention is to optimize the design of a large electrostatic transducer.
