In the covid-19 era, activities are forced to be done from home, including learning activities. Because of the limited network, students' interest in doing assignments becomes low. Thus teachers tend to ignore the assessment of learning outcomes during the pandemic. Even though assess learning outcomes is very important to do, one of them is a daily test which aims to find out the extent to which students understand the lesson. This study aims to determine the use of the Quizizz applicationwith science literacy oriented as a media for assessing learning outcomes during the study. The research method used is applied research, namely by implementing the Quizizz application in science literacy for online assessment. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. Quantitative data collection was obtained with closed questions. Questionnare is given after students doing daily tests using Quizizz with science literacy oriented. The daily test consists of 20 multiple choice questions of Motion with 10 literacy discourses. The result of daily test is devided into three part, namely high, medium and low. Based on the result of daily test 13 students who get high accuracy score, 9 students in medium cluster and 8 students in low cluster. Overall students give positive responses to using Quizizz with science literacy oriented and agree to be used in the daily test. Based on students perceptions, the use of Quizizz is very interest and science literacy help them remember what they have learned.. However, there needs to be assistance from the teacher when new students use Quizizz for the first time.
The community engagement activity is specifically designed to discover the impact of "The Snake" and "The Eagle" method in enhancing the teachers' competence in English language teaching and learning. Contextually, the teaching method is closely related to the achievement of the goals of the teaching itself. Considering the importance of teaching approach, designing the class activities remains essential. This approach is considered to be simple and easy to internalize English learning materials such as new vocabularies and tenses, past tense for example. Therefore, the current research aims to discover how the implemented approach carries influencing outcomes to learning English. This activity engaged a number of English teachers in Pangongsean, Patapan, Bringin Nunggal villages in Torjun Sub-District, Sampang District. To reveal its impacts, we invited the English teachers in the given areas to engage in this practice so as to they are well informed about this teaching method. We also invited some students to have direct practices after the method insights given. Later, we did interview with English teachers to get to know how the teaching method would be useful in their context. Research shows that the method remains both useful and applicative for English teachers' competence in teaching English. The other sides of the current research are the challenges faced. The students' lack of vocabularies and low level of their motivation are problematic. In addition, having more time to practice the method is required so that we can give more room to both teachers and students to have more fun learning by using "Si Ular" dan "Si Elang" method in learning English.
This article principally discusses one of the enticing issues which is to accustom language politeness. This study focuses on the use of MOTHER (Madurese Theme Role Play) to accustom students’ language politeness at university level particularly at University of Trunojoyo Madura. It aims to discover and explain how maxim of GSP (General Strategy of Politeness) are utilized in the Madurese Theme Role Play. Moreover, it also aims to reveal some barriers in utilizing MOTHER to accustom students’ language politeness.This study uses qualitative design of the research. In order to get the data, observation and depth interview are applied. In addition, field-notes are used during the observation and interview to collect the data. Besides, audio-recording is also conducted to gain additional detailed information that is likely missing on the field-notes. Interactive model of data analysis is applied to analyze the data, including data reduction, data display, and data verification. The result of the study shows that ten maxims of politeness in the implementation of Madurese Theme Role Play are found. The eighty-three data are classified into ten maxims of politeness: generosity maxim, tact maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, obligation (of S to O) maxim, Obligation (of O to S) maxim, agreement maxim, opinion reticence maxim, sympathy maxim, and feeling reticence maxim. Besides, the seven barriers are encountered during the implementation of MOTHER to accustom students’ language politeness, including students’ difficulties to coordinate and cooperate with the team, to elaborate the plot of the role play, to discover references and find attractive story ideas deal with Madurese themes, to create polite dialogues of the role play, to specifies the context (to whom) the dialogue is addressed to, and to determine the title of role play. Infants experiencing difficulties in expressing an object or describing events in time do not necessarily mean that their mind stops processing the language. We, however, should persistently provide enough room to them for talk that is beneficial for their later development. Unluckily, children, to some extend, lack of opportunities to have meaningful conversations, rich vocabularies, and complex sentences modelled by their parents or caregivers. The current research, thus, aims to investigate how the implementation of conversation stations relates to children language development. This employs the qualitative research design, involving 4 children aged 4. To identify the linguistic features that the participants presumably show, basic mental entities column were also made as data collection guidance. Through the exchanges, children can describe events and situations, attributes, modifiers, and evaluation of events and situations, research shows. Conversation stations help children to develop linguistically.
This study investigates nicks (nicknames) of Facebook users (Facebookers). It specifically reveals the process of how Facebookers associate themselves with their nicknames and with all things around them. This study also finds out the factors that contribute to the choice of Facebookers to use their nicknames. This study uses sociolinguistic to approach the data. The data were obtained by using content analysis method. The data analysis method used to analyze the data was the Correlation Method with referents as the determining elements. The result of the study shows that there are personal identities associated to the nicknames used by Facebook users. It also shows that the uses of the nicknames by the Facebook users are influenced by their personal fancies (personal labelization). Besides, there are fifteen factors contributing to the choices of nicks (nicknames) by Facebook users, five major reasons that caused the informants to create the unique nicks and three issues which can be summarized related to personal autolabelization phenomena.
