This course is intended to be an active, student-centered learning experience as one exploration of practice-based learning, and it also explores the use of various applications of emerging telecommunications and information technology as a further learning goal. The course may have particular relevance for training programs with a dearth of local expertise in neuroscience relevant to psychiatry.
Faculty development workshops offered to voluntary and core faculty may encourage collaboration between groups, enhance teaching, and become a meaningful aspect of continuing education. Increased interaction with volunteers may lead educators to reframe the concept of faculty.
Participants were successful in identifying symptom complexes in the sample history and in exploring their questions in the literature and with one another. The protocol is well-suited to distance learning, is relevant to psychiatric education, and is flexible in its application.
