Suppliers have traditionally managed their relationships inAs companies began to realize that retaining profitable customers is a key to long-term profitability, efforts to foster better customer relations [(Customer Relationship Management (CRM)] became an important focus of marketing programs [1][2][3]. Companies pursuing this strategy quickly recognized the central role that automation could play in building customer relations through delivering
This paper reports on a junior-lcvcl software engineering course at the University of Alabama where students learn Ada for the first time. The course is organized around the concept of broadening the scope of students' software development experience from very small programs to larger, nontrivial applications. This course is widely perccivcd as difficult by students, and is generally thought of as a "weed-out" course for computer science majors. To increase student rct.ention, we are currently attempting two major experiments in the course: the pervasive use of active and cooperative learning techniques and the assessment of the student programming process. This paper reports on preliminary results from both of these experiments.
This paper reports the results of an exploratory study that measures computer usage patterns in a secondyear, programming-intensive computer science course. In the study, we augmented the compilation process to unobtrusively mail a copy of the compiler listing to a central location. We then analyzed these data relative to the number of compiles and their time distribution in order to characterize computer usage patterns among the students. Our results show little correlation between any particular usage pattern and the quality of the final product.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
