ABSTRACT:Mixing process is widely used in pharmaceutical industry to blend different API as well as additives to prepare solid dosage formulations. If mixing is not done properly there is always chance of dose variation and content uniformity variations. Due to this, the present paper deals with the study of the effect of mixing time, speed and % of one compound in another on the effectiveness of the process. Statistical analysis technique was used to understand the interaction effect of variables instead of one factor at a time. A 2 3 factorial design was applied to investigate the combined effect of three formulation variables, time (A), mixing speed (B) of and the % amount of diclofenac sodium (C) used. The mixing index (MI) taken as responses (Y). Polynomial equations were used to relate each response to the factors affecting it. Counter plots and response surface plots were drawn and an optimum formulation was selected using the desirability function.
Background: Whilst there are plenty of studies on patients with paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporarily associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (PIMS-TS), there is a scarcity of studies worldwide regarding follow up of these patients. Objectives: To assess the clinical, laboratory and imaging data and outcome of patients with PIMS-TS in the 6-month follow-up. Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in the Department of Paediatrics, Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences,Ramakrishna Mission, Seva Pratisthan, Kolkata, India on all children under 12 years of age admitted from 1st March to 31st August 2021 with World Health Organisation criteria of PIMS-TS. Main outcome measures: Clinical features of different systems, routine laboratory investigations, liver and renal function tests, acute phase reactants, cardiac markers like NT-proBNP, urine analysis, echocardiogram, ultrasonography of abdomen and magnetic resonance imaging of brain. Results: Twenty-one patients (13 male, 8 female) were included in this study. Median age of presentation was 3 years; 3 patients had pre-existing comorbidities; all patients had elevated inflammatory markers at baseline; 14 patients had significant findings on echocardiography on admission; all patients were discharged in stable condition. At the 6-month follow-up, 2 patients had raised C-reactive protein; significant dilatation of coronary artery persisted in 2 patients; gastrointestinal symptoms, respiratory symptoms, cutaneous manifestations and neurological features resolved in all patients. Conclusions: Though many patients had very serious presentations, most of them were completely free clinically, laboratory-wise and imaging-wise by 6 months. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to highlight the sources of noise generation in a library and suggest the implementation of a sound masking system to provide acoustic comfort, maintain speech privacy and create an environment more engaging for the users. Design/methodology/approach Analyzing the existing literature and exploring the existing practices as observed in different libraries, the study gives an overview of the sound masking initiatives in libraries. Findings With practical examples of libraries, the study demonstrates how a sound masking system has been implemented to invoke better acoustic design in the library. The expansion of various activities in the library and a gradual shift from individual attention to a collaborative approach necessitates a strong focus on the acoustic design architecture of the library. The study showcases how the libraries adopt sound masking with the introduction of acoustic panels, dual panel partitions, sound-absorbent false ceilings, sound insulation, sound isolation and noise-dampening measures, installing furniture with sound containment features, adopting vibration control mechanism, mounting of white noise machines, etc., keeping the aesthetic quotient of the library alive. Originality/value The study attempts to show the current practices of the adoption of the sound masking system in libraries and promotes collaborative reading with the creation of an acoustic design-influenced library environment to control noise and reverberation and provide a comfortable reading environment.
Pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 infection is not very common. It may vary from a simple febrile inflammatory response to a severe multisystem involvement including myocarditis and shock. Here, we report the case of a 10-year-old female child with fever, rash, and mucositis who presented with shock and complete heart block along with encephalopathy and convulsions. The primary investigations revealed raised inflammatory markers along with a high titer of COVID antibodies. She was given full inotrope support along with immunomodulators. She underwent temporary pacing but ultimately needed a dual-chamber pacemaker. The novel coronavirus in children can present with a myriad of manifestations affecting almost every organ. In these pandemic times, one must always keep in mind the possibility of COVID-19 infection in a child that presents with shock, carditis, and arrhythmias. These children need intense immunosuppression and must be managed very aggressively
