Madduppa HH, Agus SB, Farhan AR, Suhendra D, Subhan B. 2012. Fish biodiversity in coral reefs and lagoon at the Maratua Island, East Kalimantan. Biodiversitas 13: 145-150. Fishes are one of the most important biotic components in the aquatic environment. They are filling different habitats, including coral reef and lagoon. This study aims to (i) assess biodiversity in coral reef and lagoon in Maratua Island, East Kalimantan, and (ii) compare the fish community indices (Shannon-Wiener diversity, Evenness, and Dominance) between the coral reef and lagoon. A total of 159 fish species of belonging to 30 families were observed during five visual census of the study period. The number of species on coral reefs is higher (121 species) than in the lagoons (47 species). Relative abundance (%) of each species also varied and did not form a specific pattern. However, a clear cluster between the coral reef and lagoon habitats from fish relative abundance based on multivariate analysis and dendogram Bray-Curtis Similarity was revealed. The Evenness index value (E) ranged from 0.814 to 0.874, the dominance index (C) ranged from 0.023 to 0.184, and the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (ln base, H') ranged from 1.890 to 4.133. Fish biodiversity in coral reefs was higher (H'= 3.290±0.301) than in the lagoon (H' = 2.495±0.578).
West Sumatra is one producing coffee region in Indonesia that contributes to the economy in Indonesia because unstable need expand. Optimizing generative propagation of coffee plants with gibberellin hormone treatment and different water temperatures on coffee seed germination stage. The research was conducted at the Seed Technology Laboratory Faculty Agriculture, Andalas University from July to September 2020. Research methods used randomized block design [RBD] with 2 treatments namely concentration hormone gibberellin and immersion water temperature differences. Measurement parameters are maximum growth potential [%], First Count Test [FCT] [%], and Index Value Test [IVT] [days]. All parameter observation results showed a significant effect on the treatment of gibberellin hormone concentration and water temperature treatment. G4S1 sample [the combination of 200 ppm gibberellin hormone concentration and room water temperature treatments] has resulted as the best treatment for all parameters. Respectively, 0.79 days for index value test, 76.67% for the first count test, and 85% for the maximum growth potential parameters.
The article aimed to investigate the policies in the environmental law in Indonesia and its effectiveness for the Leuser ecosystem area. The method used in this research was a normative and empirical method through legal, comparative, and historical approach. The data were analyzed based on descriptive analysis through inductive and deductive interpretation. The results showed that the environmental law in Indonesia had undergone significant progress in many aspects, one of which was in a reinforcement of criminal and private law and the implementation of strict liability principle. In addition, the law employs a biocentrism principle aiming to improve people's lives by considering human as the center (anthropocentrism) to a holistic position; that is, all elements are related. However, the environmental law has not successfully been implemented due to the disputes between policymakers in the central and local governments, regarding development and environment, ecology and economy. Moreover, it is because the strict liability principle has not been considered as the foundation for law enforcement yet.
