This activity was carried out to determine the optimal dose of application of coffee husk waste compost on Arabica var. Komasti (Coffea arabica L.) coffee seedlings. It was carried out at the Jember State Polytechnic Collection Garden from November 2018 to April 2019. The research method used was a non-factorial randomized block design with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Treatment A0 = 0 gr/seed (without coffee husk compost), A1 = 150 gr/seedling compost, A2 = 300 gr/seedling, A3 = 450 gr/seedling, A4 = 600 gr/seedling. From the results of data analysis carried out, the application of coffee husk waste compost on the growth of Arabica coffee seedlings had a significant effect on the parameters of seedling height at 146 HSP, wet weight of seeds, and dry weight of seeds. The result of the research activity was that A4 treatment gave the best results with a dose of 600 g of compost fertilizer/seedling. Furthermore, the parameters of the number of leaves and seedling diameter showed no significant (non-significant) results.
Ulat Grayak, Spodoptera litura merupakan serangga fitofagus yang merusak tanaman pertanian. Stadia larva merupakan stadia yang sangat merusak hasil pertanian. Penelitian pengembangan metode perbanyakan massal (mass rearing) menggunakan formulasi tertentu diperlukan sebagai upaya untuk menghasilkan serangga uji yang homogen (umur stadia yang seragam dalam jumlah yang banyak) dengan waktu yang efisien pada skala laboratorium. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh formulasi pakan buatan terhadap panjang larva, berat pupa, dan lama (periode) stadia (telur-imago) S. litura yang dipelihara pada skala laboratorium. Formulasi pakan buatan yang diuji pada penelitian ini adalah formulasi Poitout dan Singh and Moore Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa larva S. liturayang dipelihara dengan menggunakan pakan buatan formulasi Singh and Moore menghasilkan penambahan panjang larva, penambahan berat tubuh pupa, dan pemendekan waktu stadia S. litura dibandingkan dengan menggunakan pakan buatan formulasi Poitout. Pakan buatan yang dibuat dengan formulasi Singh and Moore dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif pakan untuk mass rearing S. litura pada skala laboratorium.
Perilaku hidup sehat perlu ditingkatkan dalam mencegah penularan Covid 19 yaitu berolahraga, tidak merokok dan mengonsumsi makanan sehat dan bergizi. Desa Sembungan Kasihan Bantul Yogyakarta memiliki populasi sebanyak 1299 jiwa dimana tingkat pendidikan masyarakat yang masih rendah sehingga sangat rentan dalam pemahaman akan gizi yang baik dimana sebagai salah satu senjata utama untuk menangkal penyebaran Covid 19. Metode Pelaksanaan berupa sosialisasi kepada remaja disampaikan dalam bentuk ceramah yang didukung dengan program power point dan leaflet untuk memudahkan penyampaian informasi. Berdasarkan kegiatan sosialisasi yang telah dilaksanakan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sosialisasi tentang anemia serta diet rendah serat sangat diperlukan bagi masyarakat khsusnya masyarakat Desa Sembungan yang minim fasilitas pendidikan dan kesehatan. Dan teknik penyampaian sosialisasi terhadap kondisi dan karakter peserta menjadi kunci utama tingkat keberhasilan masuknya materi di pemahaman peserta.
The development of vanilla seeds through tissue culture techniques with the addition of growth regulator kinetin aims to increase the success of shoot formation and growth of vanilla explants. The research was carried out from February to June 2021 at the Tissue Culture Laboratory Politeknik Negeri Jember. The research method used a single factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments which were repeated 5 times. The treatment was the addition of kinetin to Murashige-Skoog (MS) media with a concentration of 0, 1, 2, 3 mg/L. Data analysis used analysis of variance followed by a 5% or 1% BNT test. The results of the analysis showed that the addition of kinetin affected the initial germination time of vanilla explants with the fastest time being 13-17 days after inoculation at a kinetin concentration of 1-3 mg/L. The kinetin concentration of 3 mg/L also affected the wet weight of vanilla explants aged 8 weeks after inoculation with the highest average of 2.62 grams per explant. However, the addition of kinetin did not affect root length, root number and shoot length until the vanilla explants were 8 weeks old after inoculation. .
