This study aims to know the effect of learning style on the biology learning achievement of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sampolawa. This type of research is ex post facto through a quantitative descriptive approach. The sampling technique is saturated sampling. The sample in the study amounted to 80 students. Research data were obtained through questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics through a simple linear regression test. The results showed that descriptively the learning style tendencies owned by class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Sampolawa were 23 students with Diverging learning styles with a percentage of 28.8%, Assimilating as many as 20 students with a percentage of 25.0%, Converging as many as 19 students with the percentage are 23.8%. The Accommodating is 18 students with a percentage of 22.5%. Based on the results of the inferential analysis, a significance value of 0.003 was obtained, which was smaller than the value of equal to 0.05, meaning that David Kolb’s learning style had a positive and significant effect on students' learning achievement in biology.
This study aimed to analyze the relationship between scientific literacy and students' critical thinking skills in biology science material in junior high schools. The research used a quantitative correlation method. The subjects in this study were the students in the eighth grade of junior high school SMPN 9 Buton consisted of 68 people. The research instrument was in the form of multiple choice questions to measure scientific literacy skills and essay questions to measure students' critical thinking skills. The research data obtained were then analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics through the product-moment correlation test. Results of descriptive statistics show that literacy science and student critical thinking there in four criteria excellent, good, enough, and low. The inferential statistic analysis results show that the significance value of the correlation between scientific literacy and critical thinking skills is 0.001 less than the alpha value of 0.05. Based on the results can be concluded there is a positive and significant correlation between scientific literacy and students' critical thinking skills in the circulatory system material.
The quality of science learning in the science field is still low. This study aims to determine the effect of the scientific approach on students' communication skills and understanding of concepts related to pollution materials. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest design with only control groups. The study population consisted of all seventh-grade students at the SMP Negeri 9 Buton enrolled in the even-numbered semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The study sample consisted of 45 students. The sampling technique was simple random sampling. A multiple-choice test served as an instrument for examining the communication skills and understanding of the students' concepts. Research data is analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that a scientific approach had a positive and significant impact on students' communication skills and understanding of pollution concepts. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan saintifik terhadap keterampilan komunikasi dan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi pencemaran lingkungan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretes-postest only control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 9 Buton yang terdaftar pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 45 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah simple random sampling. Instrument penelitian keterampilan komunikasi dan pemahaman konsep siswa yang digunakan berupa tes dalam bentuk pilihan ganda. Data hasil penelitian diolah secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat pendekatan saintifik berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keterampilan komunikasi dan pemahaman konsep siswa materi pencemaran lingkungan. Natural science is a subject that in the study requires a laboratory as a means of learning. The facts obtained are that there are still students who do not understand that the implementation of laboratory practicum can not only perform indoors (closed laboratory) but in an environment known as a natural laboratory. The method of community service activities carried out is socialization. Learning by utilizing the environment is very important to perform because the surrounding provides various things that students can study and can increase real student experience because it is very thick with everyday life. The evaluation result of understanding regarding the use of the environment as a natural laboratory showed that 83% (15 students) were in the excellent category, 11% (2 students) were in enough category and 6% (1 student) were in the poor category. These results indicate that most students have good knowledge about the advantage of the environment as a natural laboratory in learning.
