The present study assesses the water quality of the Chambal River for drinking and irrigation in Kota City on a seasonal and annual basis. Twenty-three parameters to be observed for the water quality of the Chambal River at four sampling points at Kota district, Rajasthan (India). The observation period was from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020. The water quality of Chambal River water for drinking and irrigation is determined with the help of WQI and IWQI. The results were compared with the bureau Indian Standard "IS 10500:2012" for drinking water. All the parameters were found under the prescribed limit. The river's water quality upstream of Kota Barrage is suitable for drinking and irrigation. But, in the downstream, it varies from poor to very poor category, making it unsuitable for human consumption. This research is an earlier sign of regulating agencies to control and manage river water pollution.
