ABSTRAKPenilaian secara visual pada abses periapikal pada radiograf periapikal, memiliki perbedaan interpretasi secara intra dan inter observer yang diakibatkan subjekti tas penilaian. Penilaian pada abses periapikal setelah perawatan endodontik secara visual umumnya dilihat dari berkurangnya ukuran abses periapikal. Pada penelitian ini pengukuran abses periapikal dilakukan dengan mengukur luas lesi, jumlah partikel, dan luas partikel pada radiograf setelah perawatan endodontik secara digital. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui luas lesi, jumlah partikel dan luas partikel trabekula tulang setelah perawatan endodontik pada abses periapikal melalui digitalisasi radiograf periapikal menggunakan software ImageJ. Penelitian bersifat analisis observasional. Sampel diambil sebanyak masing-masing 31 radiograf sebelum dan setelah perawatan endodontik pasien dengan diagnosa abses periapikal di RSGM Universitas Padjadjaran Bandung. Radiograf di digitalisasi menggunakan software ImageJ untuk mendapatkan hasil luas lesi, jumlah partikel dan luas partikel abses periapikal. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa dari 31 pasang radiograf sebelum dan setelah perawatan endodontik terdapat penurunan rata-rata luas lesi dari 12,44 ± 2,29 mm 2 menjadi 2,72 ± 1,86 mm 2 , peningkatan ratarata jumlah partikel dari 56,22 buah, menjadi 79,61 buah, peningkatan rata-rata luas partikel dari 8,93 ± 2,55 mm 2 , menjadi 11,42 ± 2,61 mm 2 . Simpulan penelitian ini adalah analisis radiograf abses periapikal menggunakan software imageJ ditemukan penurunan ukuran luas lesi, yang dipengaruhi oleh kenaikan jumlah partikel dan luas partikel setelah perawatan endodontik.Kata kunci: abses periapikal; digitalisasi radiograf periapikal; software imageJ ABSTRACT: Periapical abscess radiography analysis using imageJ after endodontics treatment. The visual assessment to measure the lesion of periapical abscesses on the radiograph interpretation has the distinction of periapical in intra observer and inter observer which caused by the subjectivity of observer. The assessment on abscess periapikal after endodontic treatment commonly has been seen visually from the reduced size of the lesion periapical abscess. On this research, the measurement of periapical abscesses lesion is done with measuring the number of particles, the extensive of lesions, and the extensive of particle on the radiograph after endodontic treatment on digitally. Introduction: Third molars have the most cases of tooth impaction associated with oral and dental pathologies. Assessment of third molar's impaction pattern and related pathological condition are important for treatment consideration.Objectives: The present study aimed to observe the impaction pattern of third molars in West Java, Indonesian population, and analysed the correlation with the impaction-associated pathologies. Material and methods: Digital panoramic radiographs of 83 subjects (52 females, 31 males), with mean age of 19.12 years, were obtained. From the sample, 313 third molars were classified according to Pell & Gregory's and Winter's impaction classifications. Pathological conditions were registered from medical records and radiograph examinations. Fisher's exact test was applied to determine the significance of variables, and correlation and odds ratio (OR) were calculated. Results: Four pathological conditions were observed from the research sample, including caries, pericoronitis, osteoma, and periapical abscess. Analysis of Pell & Gregory's classification showed that there was significant evidence of caries in class A, with correlation of 0.26 (OR: 18.53; 95% CI: 3.61-95.00%), and pericoronitis in class IIA, with correlation of 0.31 (OR: 12.83; 95% CI: 4.38-37.60%). There was no significant pathologic conditions' incident related to Winter's classification. Conclusions: Within the research sample, there was two pathological conditions significantly associated with Pell & Gregory's classification, which were caries with class A and pericoronitis with class IIA. While there was no pathologic condition associated with third molars' angulation according to Winter's classification. Future research should consider clinical examination with greater third molars' sample.
The limitation of residual bone height (RBH) and vital structures such as sinuses in the maxillary often make the implant placement procedure becomes complicated. Clinicians may perform sinus elevation prior to implant placement to accommodate the length of the implant fixture. Sinus elevation is an invasive procedure and complication may occur during the surgery including the most frequent complication is perforation of Schneiderian membrane. Objectives: To discuss a comprehensive management of implant placement and its complication step by step from surgical procedures to crown placement Case Report: 67-year-old female patient with partial edentulism in the right maxillary region, presence of sinus septum, and RBH was 4mm. The patient was planned to do sinus elevation surgery prior to implant placement, perforation of the Schneiderian membrane occurred while surgery performed and pericardium membrane was attached around the perforation site. Sinus re-entry and implant placement were performed after 3 months followed by prosthetics procedures in the next 6 month. Conclusion: Dental implant is a complicated treatment and complication may occur during the placement, thus a comprehensive management is very essential to minimize the risk of complications.
