The paper was motivated by the Covid-19 pandemic which changed social behavior for human being. The impact of this pandemic also affected the physical presence of many furniture in public areas, especially in outdoor public space. These facilities were not functional and unused by its supposed users as pandemic spread out. The expected result was the finding of a trend toward suitable outdoor furniture design criteria so that it could meet the needs of pedestrians in times of pandemic. The observation was conducted at Ir.H. Juanda Road in Bandung. It is one of the roads used by many pedestrians at the weekends. The contextual approach method was used as the basis for researching pedestrian activities in the pedestrian area along Ir.H. Juanda Road, Bandung, to find out design criteria for sitting facilities to adjust human behavior in times of pandemic. The approach of the research stage is done by referring to the physical distancing rules, environmental dimension, and the personal dimension which results in the design reference principles that depart from aspects of human and material behavior. The human and materials interaction will produce the design criteria to revitalize sitting facility to match pedestrian activities in times of pandemic.
The notion of aesthetics so far did not produce a conclusion crystallized from various points of view offered by observer. It came from the standpoint of behavioral and psychological environment to obtain the aesthetic sense which was based on the notion of meaning, perception, and aesthetic experience. In the philosophy of beauty "aesthetic experience" was in the view of phenomenology of the aesthetic experience of the "thing". Sensory aesthetic experience was based on observations at the same time with the whole soul of the human body and produced a feeling of participating bound, carried away, and enticed her feelings toward an aesthetic pleasure and experience. The question raised then is how these symptoms that could affect the behavior settings in the broad sense. Good answers to these questions will be able to make designers better understand the behavior of the users as well as empower designers to contribute to the environment.
Creativity is the rationale possessed by humans in which conscious and unconscious processes occur in problem solving and the creation of a work product. Creativity in the process of creating each individual, especially in the field of design education, can be trained by giving stimuli based on the problems obtained in the surrounding environment. This research considers the ecosystem problem through the environment, especially industrial waste with rattan material, which accounts for almost 10% of waste from raw materials used every month. The waste treatment becomes a medium for sharpening student creativity. The study was conducted by conducting a project design that processes waste problems into new, more commercial products to see the creative process. Research involves lecturers and experts from the design industry related to the process and achievement of creativity based on thinking patterns in solving a problem. Various results were found where the achievement of creativity through the process was successful and some failed. This design project-based training is a challenge for lecturers to be able to improve their role performance and direct students as young designers to sharpen their creative abilities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
