Community Service (PkM) is carried out by the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Methodist Indonesia by providing counselling the effect of HIV Infections and AIDS. PkM was held on 8-11 June 2022 at Lumban Pea Timur, Balige,Toba District, North Sumatera. The method used is to provide counselling/lectures and provide motivation, then followed by question and answer to obtain results and solutions as a form of problem’s solving and obstacles faced. The results of PkM with counselling are very effective considering that there are still many people who do not get information about HIV infections and AIDS. With this counselling, the public becomes aware of the HIV_AIDS Infections problem. Thus, it is hoped that the people of Lumban Pea Timur will aware and know how to prevent their community from HIV-AIDS Infections.
Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous follicle which is characterized by blackheads, papules, cysts, and pustules. Acne vulgaris predilection especially on the face, shoulders, upper arms, chest, and back. Acne vulgaris is a skin disease that is often found in adolescents, 85% of adolescents are affected with a certain severity, and most often appears at the age of 15-18 years old, both in men and women. This study was conducted to investigate the association between family history, stress, sleep quality, consumption of dairy products, and zinc levels on the severity of acne vulgaris. The analytical observational study using cross sectional design. The sample in this study were students of class XI IPS 1 SMA Methodist 1 Medan who suffered acne vulgaris as many as 31 people who met the inclusion criteria. The instruments used were family history questionnaire, PSS, PSQI, food consumption questionnaire, and laboratory examination of serum zinc levels. The results of the test using Kruskal wallis from this study, there is an association of family history with the severity of acne vulgaris (p = 0.006), while the factors of sleep quality and consumption of dairy products cannot affect the severity of acne vulgaris (p = 0.932), (p = 0.082) ). Similarly, stress did not have an association to the severity of acne vulgaris (p = 0.412), so also with zinc levels did not have an association (p = 0.788). There is a family history relationship on the severity of acne vulgaris, and there is no association between stress, sleep quality, and consumption of dairy products and zinc levels on the severity of acne vulgaris.
Ovarian cysts is one of the most common gynaecology benign tumour found in women in their reproductive years. Ovarian cysts consist of fluid-filled pockets such as water-filled balloons in the ovaries. Permagna ovarian cyst is a cyst with a diameter exceeding 10 cm. Clinical manifestations that occur can include abdominal discomfort, difficulty urinating, pelvic pain, and pain during intercourse and menstrual disorders. Medical management that can be performed in patients with ovarian cysts is by hormonal and surgical treatment. Through surgery, management of ovarian cysts can be done with laparotomy or laparoscopy. Laparoscopy surgery of ovarian cysts requires anesthesia. It is known that laparoscopy procedures are usually performed under general anesthesia due to respiratory changes caused by pneumoperitoneum. However, the use of spinal anesthesia has emerged as an alternative choice for laparoscopy because of its safe use. Anesthesia management was reported in 22 years old patient with Permagna Ovarian Cyst who performed laparoscopic surgery. Anesthesia technique with spinal anesthesia using bupivacaine hcl 0.5% 20 mg added pethidine 25 mg. During operation, patient was sedated with midazolam 2.5-5 mg intravenous, hemodynamic was stable and patient also comfortable until operation finished.
