The effects of irradiation on the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), the density, and the elastic moduli of low-CTE materials such as amorphous Si02, ultra-low-expansion glass, &Sic, Astrositall, and Zerodur were surveyed. It was found that the properties of all of these materials were affected by radiation exposures up to 2 X lo9 rd; Si02 and S i c were the most radiation-resistant of the materials studied.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
