Introduction. The formation and implementation of the national teacher growth system (NTGS) in the Russian Federation involves global practices, which are based on effective teacher professional development models. The present research analyses approaches and models used in the training and continuing professional development of teachers in Hong Kong and Finland. The aim of the current article is to identify the meaningful issues of the formation of a teacher growth national system in the context of the best foreign experiences, as well as to reveal the possibilities, which allow applying these effective experiences to Russian realities.Methodology and research methods. In the course of the study, the authors relied on a socio-cultural approach to the organisation of the additional professional pedagogical education, the concept of continuing and non-formal learning throughout life, as well as methodological approaches and methods developed and applied in comparative pedagogy. Understanding and summarising the content of the research materials was carried out on the basis of a comparative retrospective analysis with a search depth of 10-12 years.Results. The analysis of effective models of teacher professional growth and development in Hong Kong and Finland has revealed the following similar positions: strict selection rules and requirements for teaching major and specialties; expanding the component of teaching practice in the learning process; inclusion of the research-based component in training programmes at university and post-graduate levels of teacher professional development; actualisation of the problems concerning specific groups of teachers; creation of continuing (life-long) teacher professional development systems; awareness of the special relevance of “entry into the profession” programmes as a dynamically developing component in the teacher continuing professional growth; creation of specific motivation mechanisms for successful professional teaching activities, which are based on national historical and cultural characteristics and values.Scientific novelty. The main stages, modules, key characteristics of teacher professional development models in Hong Kong and Finland are analysed systematically. The peculiarities of teacher professional development practices, which are widespread in Anglosphere, are revealed in terms of Hong Kong realities. The motivation mechanisms for effective teacher professional activities, which are based on national cultural and historical values, have been described. The similarities and differences in the application of these mechanisms are demonstrated.Practical significance. The results and conclusions of the research undertaken by the authors can be put into the basis for further reforms aimed at the formation and implementation of the teacher growth national system in the Russian Federation. Also, these research findings have important implications to create the mechanisms for adapting teachers to changes and to increase their motivation for continuing professional growth.
Introduction. These days, destructive manifestations among young people can be observed, and the main reason for it may be the global value and worldview crisis. It consists in the discrepancy of ideals, values, beliefs, knowledge to the tasks of overcoming the instability of modern civilisation. Due to this, there is a need to update the educational questions, which have a so-called “social focus”. Among these are: developing the “human” in a person, overcoming disunity (e.g. egoism, individualism), developing social responsibility, etc. In this regard, two factors are of an urgent nature: firstly, systematic studies of the students’ socio-cultural identity, and, secondly, the study of the university socio-cultural environment, which influences overcoming the negative consequences of individualism and disunity in the university environment. The focus on the social side of education presupposes the formation of value community in the university environment, while the characteristics of the socio-cultural identity of the members in educational activity and the consideration of research results in practice become decisive.Aim. The aim of the present research work was to identify the conditions of extra-curricular educational activities. These conditions contribute to the formation of a value community in the university environment based on common spiritual and moral ideas. The specific objectives of the research are related to the following aspects: identification of the dominant conceptual approaches to the implementation of educational activities in the system of modern Russian higher education (with a focus on the social focus demanded by society); determination of the differentiated composition of the subjects of educational activity as one of the factors, which determine the cultural identification of students and the development of communities in the socio-cultural environment; establishment of the relevance of diagnostic tools which allow students to track the development of positive social qualities; the disclosure of the general orientation of educational activities in extra-curricular time with social and personal focus.Methodology, methods and techniques. In the course of the research, a qualitative and quantitative content analysis of educational work programmes in 12 universities (multi-profile, humanities and technical) from different regions of the Russian Federation was carried out. The research is based on the environmental approach in education. The research is based on the methodology of the environmental approach in pedagogy and the idea of the event-based mechanism of education. The interpretations of the social focus of students’ world outlook orientations are based on the theory of basic personal values.Results. The conditions of extra-curricular educational activity are revealed: goal-setting of extra-curricular activities, which has a predominantly social focus; correspondence of the content of educational activities to the tasks of overcoming individualism and disunity; consideration of the differentiated composition of the subjects of educational activity. The authors posed the scientific problem for a diagnostic apparatus that allows universities to track the process and results of educational work aimed at the development of social values.Scientific novelty. The authors have made a proposal on the need to take into account the differentiated set of members of educational activity with a focus on public interests in priority.Practical significance. The conclusions, which justify the need to consider the moral and ideological positions in order to achieve results in the development of the socially focused qualities, may be of interest to specialists involved in designing and organising educational activities in universities.
Introduction. The problem of finding axiological grounds is associated with the need to solve the tasks of implementing the progressive mission of universities in the regions. The problem appeared with sufficient evidence as a result of obtaining analytical data from the first stage of the grant study devoted to the factors of formation of students’ identity in the multi-confessional environment of the university. The data obtained testified to a pronounced individualistic focus of educational activity, which presumably could have a negative impact on the development of academic communities and cooperative forms of work at universities.Aim. The present research aims to determine the axiological foundations of the actualised educational system that corresponds to the modern interests of Russians and to clarify the ideas about the barriers that prevent the formation of university value communities on the basis of the comparison of values of students and university teachers.Methodology and research methods. The empirical basis of the study is surveys of university students and teachers. The surveys were conducted by a research group at 13 Russian universities in 2021 and 2022. Based on the description of various conceptual approaches (sociocentric, anthropocentric and theocentric) to education, theoretical and practical argumentation presented in the article, the question of the advantages and disadvantages of each of the concepts is solved. The axiometric methods used in the study (content analysis and sociometry of group preferences) made it possible to reflect the results of the analysis of a significant sample (1,256 students and 87 teachers were interviewed). The analysis differs from the well-known studies of recent years also in temporal characteristics (specific time points were selected to trace to a certain extent the dynamics of value orientations due to the sociocultural specifics of the historical moment).Results. The nature of the modern postmodern ideology of education is clarified. It is revealed that its priorities are associated with individualistic orientations, coupled with egocentric interests, which represent the idea of eternal values and public benefit on the periphery. The ideology of postmodern pedagogy is contrasted with the value-semantic principles of the traditional culture of education, focused on the growth of the social personality, characterised by a formalised idea of the ideal. The sociocentric approach emphasises the need for subject-subject interaction taking into consideration the question of the idea of the ideal is significant for all participants in the educational process.Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the analytical results obtained, indicating signs of agnosticism and spiritual passivity of students, hedonistic dominants and general confusion in determining the semantic priorities of modern students, on the one hand, and the insufficiently realised role of teachers as mentors, personally transmitting positive spiritual and value experience, on the other. Along with the problem of educating students and correcting their attitude tothe teacher, the question of the need for the formation of socially significant ideals-oriented thinking of teachers is raised.Practical significance. The observations and conclusions may be of interest in the development of managerial and coordinating recommendations in professional and higher education.
