The main objective of this work is to study the effect of sulphur application and irrigation water quantity on some soil properties of the calcareous soils and to limit the suitable concentration to obtain satisfactory yield of faba beab under saline conditions. The study area (Tamyia district, Fayoum Governorate, Egypt) is characterized by a hot and dry climate in general with annual rainfall average of 8 mm/year, whereas the evaporation rates average ranging between 3.5 to10 mm/day. Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) was sown at 18 November 2010 and harvested at 26 April 2011. Total water consumed during faba bean growing season were 623.7 and747.2 m3/ fed for 100% and 120% irrigation treatments with increasing ranged between 3.5% and 3.7% in same sequence. Results showed that values of soil EC, pH and CaCO3 was improved as a result of both irrigation and S treatments. The improvement resulted in a gradual reduction of the studied soil properties by about 10.3%, 3.2%; 17.0% and 23.1%, 4.3%; 11.3% comparing S treated plot relative to the control plot at 100 and 120% irrigation treatments. Application S improved water content under studied soil constant and these increases were 8.8%, 11.8%, 8.3% and 16.9% for SP, FC, WP and AW, respectively relative to the control plots. Irrigation 100% had a positive effect on the drainable pores% which increased by about 7.0% comparing with 120% irrigation treatments. While hydraulic conductivity increased by about 16.4% and percentage of increase drainable pores was 14.0% and 21.4% for 100% and 120% irrigation treatments comparing 3rd layer with the 1st one, respectively. Increasing irrigation water from 100% to 120% resulted increasing in the studied macronutrients, N, P and K, by about 80.8%, 144.9% and 72.9%, respectively; while they increased in plant by about 118.8%, 132.8% and 62.2% as compared with the control one, respectively as a result of S application. Results showed that Na, Cl and Na/K ratio that increasing irrigation water caused increase by 2.02%, 11.11% for Na and Cl, while reduction in the ratio between Na and K was observed with value –15.7% as compared 120 with 100% irrigation treatments. This study examined changes in some soil hydrophysical, chemical properties and wheat yield (grain; straw yield, N, P, K, Protein and carbohydrates contents) as trends under two cultivated period 10 and 25 year and Farm Yard manure (FYM) addition under sprinkler irrigation system on a newly reclaimed soils, Nubaria, Beheira Governorate, Egypt. Obtained results noticed that cultivation period has more pronounced effect than FYM addition on soil water content at field capacity, wilting point and available water with increase percent 15.1%, 9.3%; 19.0% and 25.7%, 19.5% and 30.0% for FYM and cultivation period comparing with control one. Hydraulic conductivity values were strongly affected by cultivation period and FYM addition and significantly decreased values by about 18.9% and 12.1% in same sequences. Wheat straw content from protein had a superior effect under 25 than 10 years cultivated periods with values 61.9 and 6.7 comparing with control, respectively as affected by FYM addition, while FYM alone improved protein content in straw by about 31.9% comparing with untreated one. Slightly increase in straw protein content was attained relative to the increase of cultivated period by about 7.8%. Nutrients content in grain is more than FYM, where the increase percentage were 5.2%, 13.5%; 3.8% and 26.5, 21.3; 22.6 comparing cultivated periods 25 with 10 years and FYM addition with control, respectively. FYM individually under two studied cultivated periods is more effective under 10 years (28.0%, 25.2%; 15.1%) than the 2nd one (25.1%, 25.2%; 15.1%) comparing with untreated FYM plots. While N, P and K content in wheat straw had unclear trend and the increase were 6.8, 23.23; 56.5% and 62.9, 6.0; 29.8 as a result of FYM addition under 10 and 25 years cultivated periods, respectively. The highest values of protein and carbohydrates content in wheat grains as affected by studied factors were 12.86% and 67.43%) were obtained under cultivated period 25 years after FYM addition. Cultivated periods had a highly significant effect on the field water use efficiency values of grain more than the effect of FYM. The highest values of grain and straw yield were recorded at 10 years cultivated periods + treated FYM (2966.8 kg/fed) and 25 years cultivated periods treated with FYM (3835.6 kg/fed). Cultivated periods increased grain and straw yield of wheat crop by about 57.6% and 8.3%. Whereas, FYM increased grain and straw yield by about 39.8% and 58.8% relative to the control, respectively.
Egypt is currently suffering from the vast increase in population that is increasing water consumption whether for domestic use or by other sectors especially, the agricultural one, which consumed more than 80 % of the water income. Experiment was conducted under drip irrigation system in the sandy soils of the experimental Farm of the National Research Centre, El-Nubaria, El-Behera governorate. The aim of this work is to study the effect of the N (0, 25; 50 kg/fed) and P (0, 10, 20, 30) fertilizers at different rates on the growth, yield parameters and crop water productivity (CWP) of peanut plant. Resulted data showed that application of N and P at the rates of and kg/fed, respectively on peanut crop to increase yield and enhance quality. CWP increased in the current experiments in the following order of 60>80>100 % ETo despite the reduction in crop yield. The quality attributes of oil and protein contents significantly improved by irrigation levels, N and/or P fertilizers application rates and their interactions.
