Com o constante aumento populacional existente no planeta, há uma tendência do aumento do consumo e conseqüente aumento da geração de resíduos. O problema é grave nas áreas urbanas, assim como nas áreas rurais, sendo estas últimas, muitas vezes não atendidas pelos programas de coleta dos resíduos gerados, pelas autoridades responsáveis. O objetivo deste estudo, foi buscar e disponibilizar informações à respeito da destinação adequada das embalagens vazias de agrotóxicos e da coleta seletiva do lixo nas zonas rurais do Brasil, de forma a subsidiar o delineamento de ações e políticas públicas para a minimização ou até mesmo a eliminação dos problemas identificados. Sobre a destinação adequada de embalagens vazias de agrotóxicos, houve o entendimento da necessidade de disponibilização de uma maior assistência técnica a produtores rurais, e sobre a coleta seletiva, a criação de campanhas de sensibilização nas zonas rurais seriam necessárias, auxiliando os moradores sobre a forma correta de dispor seus resíduos.Palavras-chave: Coleta seletiva, reciclagem, resíduos sólidos, lixo rural. ABSTRACTWith the constant existent population increase in the planet, there are a tendency of the increase of the consumption and consequent increase of the generation of residues. The problem is serious in the urban areas, as well as in the rural areas, being not these last, a lot of times assisted by the programs of collection of the generated residues, for the responsible authorities. The objective of this study, went to look for and offer information the regarding the appropriate destination of the empty packings of agrochemicals and of the selective collection of the garbage in the rural zones of Brazil, in way to subsidize the delineation of actions and public politics for the to minimize or even the elimination of the identified problems. About the appropriate destination of empty packings of agrochemicals, there was the understanding of the offer need of a larger technical attendance to rural producers, and on the selective collection, the creation of moves campaigns in the rural zones would be necessary, aiding the residents on the correct form of disposing your residues.
