The use of mobile applications for smartphones can become an ally of the teacher in the Teaching of Chemistry. Like this, this work aims to present some mobile applications for Smartphones, compatible with the Android operating system, which have potential for use in teaching chemistry, as well as present a brief analysis on them. the applications were searched on the Google Play Store platform, and a total of 5 were found, all free. A class was held in the Chair of Methodology of Teaching of Chemistry in the course of Chemistry Degree of the IFCE - Maracanaú Campus so that the teachers in initial formation could evaluate the potentialities of the selected applications. After the analysis, it was found that they have the potential to be used by the teacher in the chemistry classes.
As technology advances, chemical analysis laboratories use statistical techniques to demonstrate the accuracy and precision of analytical methods. To make comparisons between the data obtained from an analysis, Statistical Process Control (CEP) can be used, which is a technique widely used in industry to understand and improve process performance through statistical data processing. Control charts are CEP graphic methods that enable continuous control of analytical processes and allow evaluations and possible optimization of assays. The objective of this study is to use the Statistical Process Control (CEP), the control chart, to evaluate the statistical stability of the spectrophotometer used in the application of the Nimodipino analytical methodology validation technique, using data from the absorbance study of this drug, being the tests performed by students contributing to a learning of work activities. With this study it can be verified that the use of the control chart generates an adequate monitoring to evaluate data fluctuations and to carry out studies of the same, being able to be taught to the students and applied in practical classes accompaniments. It can also be demonstrated that the Minitab 17 program assists quickly in the construction of control charts, obtaining real-time analysis results. This program can be used in other laboratories of the Federal Institute of Ceará for statistical control of analyzes with support for student learning.
Today we live in an increasingly scientific and technologically developed society that has promoted transformations in the social, political and economic environment. This development brought with it the illusion that all social and cultural problems would be solved, creating a traditional image of this science, in which its development would be free of particular interests. In order for the community to be able to understand the relations between science and the collective, it is necessary to have debates about the subject, and thinking about it, the movement called Science, Technology, Society and Environment (STSE) was created, representing a critical study group about the traditionalist and essentialist view of science and technology. The STSE studies seek to understand their social dimensions and even their consequences. Thus, this study has as main objective to review the Brazilian literature in search of articles that work the STSE approach in the teaching of Chemistry in the context of the high school classroom, with the intention of training citizens critical about the most diverse subjects of this. This research has a qualitative character, as it allows the researcher a better approximation and understanding of the facts studied. The articles were searched in national journals that allow free access and with Qualis A1, A2 and B1 Qualis according to the CAPES Qualis-Periodical system. In all, 24 journals were found, but only 8 articles were found with the theme under study, being found 14 in total. The selected papers cover the topics of Acids and Bases (1), Physical-Chemistry (1), Environmental Chemistry (3), Organic Chemistry (8) and Radioactivity (1), in which teaching was conceived in the STSE precepts to promote greater contextualization and the formation of the critical citizen. All the creators of the researches sought through the STSE to make the classes more attractive and dynamic, centring the construction of the knowledge in the student through the stimulation of the research.
Several everyday materials have acid-base indicator properties. This article aims to develop a reference material on acid-base indicators made from these materials, which can be used by the professor of Chemistry in the content of Acids and Bases to carry out the identification of these, and in this way, to be able to contextualize their teaching with the daily life of the students, who often associate the contents of Chemistry with something difficult to understand and without applications in everyday life. A total of 10 substances (purple grape, açaí, black olives, purple cabbage, black beans, jasmine-mango flower, minilacre flower, hibiscus flower, purple onion and eggplant) were selected for the preparation of the extracts, which were made using ethyl alcohol, found in pharmacies and markets, for a period of 24 hours. The extracts were tested on four substances: commercial muriatic acid, commercial caustic soda, vinegar and soap. All the indicators present satisfactory results, being able to identify with acid and basic substances distinction, which allows to infer that they can be used as a teaching tool by the professor of Chemistry.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
