This study aimed at analyzing the mental health and stress level of teachers in the Schools Division in Central Luzon, Philippines. At the same time, it identified the relationship and impact of mental health and stress level of the teachers as regards learning resource development. The study employed a descriptive-correlation research design with the online survey as the primary data collection tool. The respondents came from the 25 elementary schools in Schools Division in Central Luzon. 205 teachers participated in the online survey using a simple random sampling technique. An adapted and modified questionnaire was used to gather data. For the statistical treatment of the study, the mean was used for the responses of the teachers and the relationship and impact; the study used Pearson-r and regression analysis.The study found that in terms of mental health, the teachers experience less than once a week of sleeping problems. For social well-being, teachers experience them almost every day. For the things that bother them, the teachers were not bothered at all. The teachers also have positive mental health and for the aspect of bouncing back, they responded neutrally. In terms of stress level, the teachers revealed that they sometimes experience such a thing. For the learning resource development, the response of the teachers was “strongly agree.” Also, there exists a low direct relationship between mental health level and the development of learning resources. To confirm the relationship, the regression analysis found that mental health significantly impacts the learning resource development of teachers. Based on the results above, the researcher provided some important recommendations for the study.
This study aimed to identify the relationship of adversity quotient and emotional quotient amongst public elementary school heads. The study employed a descriptive-correlation research design with the online survey as primary data collection tool. The respondents came from the 25 elementary schools in a Schools Division Office in Central Luzon. 25 elementary school heads participated in the online survey using universal sampling technique. Adapted questionnaires were used to gather data. For the statistical treatment of the study, mean was used for the responses of the school heads; for the relationship, the study used Pearson-r. This paper concluded that the school heads' Adversity Quotient (AQ) score falls within "above average," which indicates above normal capacity for challenges, difficulties, setbacks, and demands. In terms of emotional quotient, all factors involved in emotional intelligence like self-awareness, managing emotions, motivating oneself, empathy, and social skill all "apply" to school heads. In addition, there exists a significant relationship between adversity quotient and emotional quotient of public elementary school heads.Based on the aforementioned results, the researcher provided some important recommendations for the study.
Because of the unexpected and debilitating effect of the current pandemic, the impact of the pandemic on teachers is detrimental. This paper investigated the public-school teachers' sleep, religious tasks, and suicidal thoughts. The study used a descriptive correlational design with the online survey as the primary data gathering tool. 198 public school teachers from a school's division in Central Luzon, Philippines participated in the online survey. The researchers created the online instrument with validation done by experts. After the data gathering, the study used the following statistical tools to calculate the frequency count, percentage, rank, t-test, and Analysis of Variance with the help of SPSS 22. Results show that teachers go to sleep between 10:00-11:00 PM and wake up between 5:00-6:00 AM. This comprises 7-9 hours of sleep. Teachers also go to church or other religious meetings once a week and also, they pray, meditate, or study the Bible more than once a week. Also, most of the responses of teachers in the suicidal thoughts were either "no" or "never". Furthermore, the study also found significant differences in the teachers' sleep, religious tasks, and suicidal thoughts when grouped according to their profile. The study concluded that teachers have established sleep and religious tasks routines. On the other hand, suicidal thoughts are out of the options for the teachers’ business.
In every institution in the country, there are countless stories of children being bullied, abused, or maltreated. This can happen inside a school or outside its premises. A child protection policy is a must to protect these children. This study assesses the child protection policy awareness of teachers and the responsiveness of the schools. It also wanted to know the relationship and program implications. The researchers used a descriptive-correlation research design with the survey as the primary data-gathering tool. 146 teachers from seven different schools in a city in Bulacan, Philippines took part in the survey. The study also adopted an instrument from Macatimpag (2018). To analyze the data, the proponents used mean, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson-r. The results showed that teachers were aware of the Child Protection Policy program of the Department of Education. However, the responsiveness of the schools is not very high. There were significant differences in the results observed in the awareness of teachers and the responsiveness of the schools. In addition, there is a moderate relationship between the awareness of teachers in the Child Protection policy with the responsiveness of the school about the program. Based on the aforementioned findings of the study,the researchers have provided some implications of the study for future references.
The teacher, aside from the challenges he/she faces in everyday work, the rigors of student management and the mountain of paperwork, is also confronted with the task to be emotionally matured, exhibit positive work habits, and display high teaching performance. This study aimed to determine the emotional quotient, work attitude, and teaching performance of secondary school teachers. The study used a descriptive-correlational method of research. Seven hundred and sixty-eight (768) public secondary school teachers from four school division offices in Central Luzon, Philippines took part in the study. To determine the emotional quotient and work attitude of the respondents, the study used tools by Helgriegel, et al. (1992), and the Department of Education's Competency Based-Performance Appraisal System for Teachers (CB-PAST) for the teaching performance. Analysis of the data is through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson-r, and chi-square. The results showed that the emotional quotient of the secondary school teacher was -high‖. The work attitudes of teachers in terms of sense of efficacy, sense of community, and a sense of professional interest was -very high‖. In addition, the respondents also got a -very satisfactory‖ rating in their teaching performance. The teachers' emotional quotient and their teaching performance were significantly correlated. The researcher also found significant correlations between teachers' work attitude in terms of the sense of efficacy and their teaching performance. Further perusal revealed significant differences among the respondents' work attitudes when grouped according to gender, educational attainment, and length of service. Based on the results, the researcher suggested pertinent implications for the study.
