This study aimed to develop a measurement instrument to find out significance quest levels of adults and to test its psychometric properties. 621 people (385 female, 236 male) aged 18 years and older participated in the study. The results of confirmatory factor analysis were χ2/sd= 1.89; RMSEA=.065, GFI=.86; IFI=.91; TLI=.92 and CFI=.92 and the scale was found to consist of 26 items with a four factor structure. Face validity value of the scale was found as .90, while convergent validity was found as .67. Cronbach alpha coefficient calculated to find out the internal consistency of the scale was found as .95, while test retest correlation coefficient calculated to find out invariance was found as .84. Based on these values, it can be stated that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement instrument to find out the significance quest levels of adults.
The aim of this study was to test the psychometric properties of Adlerian Inferiority and Superiority Complex Shortened Scales in a Turkish sample. Exploratory factor analysis sample consisted of 331 individuals (192 female and 139 men) between the ages of 15 and 65, while confirmatory factor analysis sample consisted of 192 individuals (113 female and 79 men) between the ages of 15 and 64. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, inferiority complex showed a structure of 10 items, while superiority complex showed a structure of 9 items. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the scales had acceptable fit values in a two-factor structure. Findings related to the internal consistency coefficient, test-retest reliability and concurrent validity showed that Adlerian Inferiority Complex and Superiority Complex Shortened Scales are valid and reliable tools for evaluate the inferiority and superiority complex levels of individuals aged 15 and older in Turkey sample.
Bu araştırmada Dehşet Yönetimi Kuramı ve kuramın kavramlarını film analizi yöntemi ile incelemek ve somutlaştırmak amaçlanmıştır. İnsanı diğer canlılardan ayıran eşsiz entelektüel yetenekleri belli bir oranda doğaya hâkim olmasını, hayatını daha konforlu hale getirmek için buluşlar gerçekleştirmesini ve icatlar yapmasını sağlar. Diğer taraftan bu üstün entelektüel yetenekleri insanın ölümlü bir varlık olduğunu fark etmesine de neden olur. İnsan, çeşitli yollarla ölümlülüğün oluşturduğu dehşet ile baş etmeye ve ölümü mümkün olduğunca uzak bir geleceğe ötelemeye çalışır. Ölüm farkındalığının yoğun olduğu ortamlardan biri savaştır. Bu araştırmada bir savaş biyografisi olan Roman Polonski’nin yönetmenliğini yaptığı “Piyanist” filmi Dehşet Yönetimi Kuramı’nın kavramları açısından analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. “Piyanist” filminin bazı sahneleri belirlenerek, bu sahnelerde yaşananlar kuramın ölümlülük bilinci, ölüm düşüncesinin erişilebilirliği, ölüm kaygısı tamponu, kültürel dünya görüşü, benlik saygısı, yakın ilişkiler, romantik ilişki, iç grup yanlılığı, dış grup düşmanlığı, sembolik ölümsüzlük, gerçek ölümsüzlük, yakınsak ve ıraksak savunma kavramları açısından incelenerek somutlaştırılmaya çalışılmıştır.
In this study, which aims to examine the ways in which university students with different substance use tendencies express their feelings in terms of various variables, the negative affect score average of the participants with high substance use tendency is significantly higher than the negative affect point average of the participants with low substance use tendency. While the positive emotion scores of university students did not differ based on their possible previous psychiatric illness, a significant difference was found between negative emotion scores. According to the perceived parental attitudes, there was no significant difference between the positive emotion score averages of the university students; however, a significant difference was found between the mean scores of negative emotions. A significant difference was found between positive and negative emotion scores about the students' self-identification. While there was a significant difference between the positive emotion scores according to the perceived academic achievement level of the students, there was no significant difference between negative emotion scores. As to their smoking habits, there was no difference between the positive emotions of the participants; however, the joint effect of the level of substance use tendency and smoking on negative emotion scores is significant.
