Objective: to verify the prevalence of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation through the collection and analysis of tracheobronchial secretions. Methods: an observational study with 13 male patients. The scale of Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation and the Clinical Pulmonary Infection Score were applied after 72 hours of orotracheal hospitalization. Results: an average score of 33 points was observed, that is, these patients presented on average a 75% chance of death. Staphylococcus aureus (23.07%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (15.38%) were found as the most prevalent microorganisms. Conclusion: the prevalence of ventilator-associated pneumonia was 25% of the cases and the most prevalent microorganisms were Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus.
This study aimed to analyze the influence of a fitness program on quality of life and lung function in asthmatics. This is an experimental study in which 19 patients were randomized intervention group (n = 9) and control group (n = 10). Later they were divided by age group: patients aged 30 to 40 years and 41-60 years. The intervention group held three times a week totaling 24 sessions of 60 minutes of individual physical training and educational lectures, while the control group received only educational lectures. Quality of life was assessed using the instrument The Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire, and lung function was assessed by spirometry and chest cirtometry. There was improvement in the score of the control group's quality of life with an average age of 41-60 years and in both the intervention group. In the thoracic mobility, there was an increase of axillary and xiphoid only on average with intervention group aged 30 to 40 years. In spirometry only the control group with an average age of 41 to 60 years showed improvement in all spirometric variables. The results of this study suggest that pulmonary rehabilitation had a positive impact on the treatment of asthmatic patients, improving the quality of life, lung function and chest mobility.
ABSTRACTThe elderly population has been gradually increasing, taking into account the need for special care, in an attempt to improve the quality of life. Knowing that systemic hypertension is one of the causes of high prevalence of morbimortality, an exercise practice assumes an important role as a non-drug therapy for its proper control. This study aimed to verify the pressure levels of the elderly, before and after the physical activity in the old age academy and if they are suitable for a practice of the activity. a sample of the composition of 40 users, being the majority (54%) of the female gender. a systemic arterial hypertension is highlighted in this study, as there was a prevalence of 56%, an opinion study and a physical exercise exercise (82%) and with practical assumptions for achieving them. It is concluded that hypertension was shown with a high frequency in the study and a practice of physical activity through the third age academy acts in the promotion and maintenance of health without aging.
