The self-assembly behaviour both in bulk and in water of amphiphilic dendrimeric derivatives based on bis-MPA is the central theme of this article. The designed molecules possess two parts with different polarity; this feature is the key factor that forces their self-assembly in water into supramolecular architectures, due to hydrophobic interactions between the lipophilic fractions of the molecules, and the appearance of mesomorphic order in bulk in response to a variation of temperature (thermotropic liquid 10 crystals). The effects provoked by the hydrophilic/lipophilic balance of the molecule were studied varying the generation of the corresponding dendrons and combining them via CuAAC click chemistry in order to obtain symmetrical and unsymmetrical final Janus dendrimers. The ability of the aggregates formed in water to encapsulate hydrophobic drugs has also been explored.
A polymer/ionic liquid thermoplastic solid electrolyte based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO), modified sepiolite (TPGS-S), lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI), and 1-Butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (PYR14TFSI) ionic liquid is prepared using solvent free extrusion method. Its physical-chemical, electrical, and electrochemical properties are comprehensively studied. The investigated solid electrolyte demonstrates high ionic conductivity together with excellent compatibility with lithium metal electrode. Finally, truly Li-LiFePO4 solid state coin cell with the developed thermoplastic solid electrolyte demonstrates promising electrochemical performance during cycling under 0.2 C/0.5 C protocol at 60 °C.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
