3D printing techniques gives a new power systems equipment industrial designing methods. In article considered a new constructor (kit) of 220/110 kV 250 MVA autotransformer from 220 kV «Ryabina» substation in 1/35 scale. Kit, realized by bachelor students of UrFU.
This article describes the problem of practical knowledge lack in modern education system and gives the solution of the problem by creating the laboratory for the scale models production. This laboratory allows to create all 110 kV, 220 kV and 500 kV power equipment in all generally accepted scales. Low price of such scale models makes the product available for students of any educational institutions.
In our days, "Electric power system kit" is the only producer of power and secondary equipment scale models. The production laboratory is established on the basis of «Automated Power Systems» department, Ural Power Engineering Institute, UrFU. In the laboratory, the following processes are organized: designing, 3D printing model and three-dimensional laser scanning of power equipment assembling of substation. Laser scanning of power facilities allows to achieve the priority goal of obtaining three-dimensional primary digital CAD-model and its drawings with high accuracy needed to meet the challenges of designing, construction, quality control, diagnostics, and other engineering tasks. The whole production process is implemented by students. Speaking about educational process, students who work in the framework of the project get knowledge about power equipment structure. This aspect improve the quality of the education and students personal skills, which are of great importance for further employment in electric power industry.
