Abstract-We present a complex amplitude transmittance filter that reduces the impact of focus errors on the modulation transfer function (MTF). The new filter combines the use of a cubic phase mask and a Gaussian apodizer, which reduces the oscillations in the MTF. We propose the use of a tendency curve, of several MTFs, for evaluating the departures of the tendency MTF, as a Euclidian distance in hyperspace.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
