Nowadays, factories aim to produce more products per unit time in order to increase their competitiveness and increase their profit margins. Accordingly, they have to take into account their expense items while achieving higher sales revenues. The costs arising from business operations can be ignored. Factors such as unnecessary activities in the factory, irregularities in the facility layout plans and time losses are the reasons that reduce the production efficiency of the factories but can be eliminated. In this study, facility layout design in the cutting department of a textile factory was aimed and the proposed design was compared with the existing layout in terms of performance criteria by developing discrete event simulation method. First of all, the process diagram was built in the related department and divided into operation components. The duration and distances of each activity were recorded by the time study analysis.
