Students were intellectuals who should have the ability to think critically, one of which is the creative thinking skills. However, the students' limited ability in basic physics as well as the limitations of using a variety of multimedia resulted in basic physics final exam results lower than 6 on average from maximum value of 10. This leads to the lower creative thinking skills of students in basic physics. This research is a Quasi Experiment research on students in the first semester of academic year 2014/2015 which amounted to 38 people. This research is expected to increase creative thinking skills as well as lecturers and students activities. Data obtained from this study is the data of creative thinking skills of students and data on the observation of activity of lecturers and students. The data were analysed by using formula percentage of completeness of learning outcomes, gain indexes and statistical t-test. Based on the results of data analysis it is showed that the use of interactive multimedia (Macromedia Flash) can improve creative thinking skills of students.
This study aims to examine how financial literacy affects financial inclusion through social capital mediation. This study uses 150 respondents who have experience, in the investment field in the Indonesian capital market. The independent variable in this study is financial literacy, using four dimensions: skill, behavior, knowledge, and attitude. The mediating variable is social capital using four dimensions (i.e., trust, bonding & bridging, and collective action). At the same time, the dependent variable in this study is financial inclusion, which has four dimensions (i.e., access, quality, usage, and welfare). The result of this research is that social capital has a significant positive effect on financial literacy and financial inclusion, but in this study, social capital has a partial mediating effect. The higher a person's financial literacy, the higher the social capital that person has. The higher a person's financial literacy, the higher the financial inclusion that person has. Our study result states that the higher a person’s financial literacy, the higher the person’s social capital. Besides, the higher a person’s financial literacy, the higher the financial inclusion.
Abstract – This study aims to analyze the effect of good corporate governance such as the number of commissioners, the number of commissioner meetings, the number of female commissioners, the independent commissioners on the dividend payout ratio in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and the Malaysia Stock Exchange. Malaysia was chosen because has a dividend payout rate close to Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression methods. The research used objects of 435 observations on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and 530 observations on the Malaysia Stock Exchange. The independent variables used are independent commissioners, board of commissioners meetings, size of commissioners, female commissioners. The results of the study using observations on the Indonesia Stock Exchange found that independent commissioners have a significant positive effect while the rest have an insignificant effect on the dividend payout ratio. Meanwhile, the results of the study using observations on the Bursa Malaysia found that the size of the commissioners and board of commissioners' meetings had a significant negative effect on the dividend payout ratio. Meanwhile, independent commissioners and female commissioners have a significant positive effect on the dividend payout ratio.
Article analyzed student’s difficulties and abilities in writing their final projects, which were undergraduate theses and undergraduate paper conducted by some students at the English Department, Bina Nusantara University. This was a preliminary study to support an appropriate student guideline in writing their final project. The study was conducted by applying qualitative methods that was by analyzing the four theses and one paper in terms of their format: titles, introduction, theoretical background, analysis, conclusion, bibliography, and paper rubric to analyze the contents. It can be concluded that generally, students, guided by their mentor/lecturer, understand the final paper guidelines and they are able to apply it in their thesis and paper. But, there are still lack of clarity and relevancy in expressing their ideas properly, and their ability in writing in both English and Bahasa Indonesia must be improved. These problems can be overcome by socializing the writing guidelines to both students and lecturers, providing them with critical thinking skills, cooperation with library that will guide them in information literacy skills, and language center that will improve their writing skills.
Article functioned as a preliminary study for the research on plagiarism happened in student’s thesis S1 in Bina Nusantara University and how to overcome this cases by a prevention procedure approved by the students, lecturers, departments, and other supporting units. The preliminary study was done by library research, finding some plagiarism cases, model, the way to prevent the case, and the sanction and punishment related to plagiarism. Results of this library research used for compiling questionnaire that will be contributed to students, thesis advisors, thesis judges, and the departments to get the real condition of plagiarism practices, prevention actions, and some input to support the next research.
