Hydroxide ion chemical ionization mass spectra of two classes of trichothecenes are described. The spectra provide molecular weight information as well as fragment ions indicative of structure. The discussion of fragmentation is aided by the use of high resolution mass measurements, mass analyzed ion kinetic energy spectra and chloride attachment spectra. Certain novel fragmentation processes under hydroxide ion conditions are noted. The chloride attachment spectra are also useful for verification of molecular weight.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
