The study aimed to evaluate the growth and development of institutionalized children from 0-6 years old. It had a descriptive, transversal and quantitative approach, and was held in a shelter from the Bureau of Labor and Social Development of the Government of the State of Ceará, in the months of March and April 2011. The sample comprised 44 children. It the sample prevailed male children (59.1%), aged 24 to 72 months (56.8%) and with time of sheltering more than one year (72.7%). It was found that the children were in the normal range of nutrition; however, 65.9% of children did not achieve at least one of the development milestones proposed by the Ministry of Health. The study suggests a reflection on how children living in shelters are being assisted by the health team, making it necessary follow up their growth and development, in order to intervene on the alterations.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the nursing care regarding the intramuscular medication administration procedure in pediatrics. METHODS It was an observational and quantitative study performed in a pediatric hospital located in the city of Fortaleza, in Ceará, Brazil. The data collection was carried out through the observation of 327 intramuscular medication administration procedures. An observational checklist composed by 25 steps was used to collect data. The performance of the 25 steps of the checklist was divided as follows: (1) five steps were applied before the procedure of intramuscular medication administration; (2) fourteen steps during the procedure; (3) six steps after the procedure. RESULTS It was found that none of the five steps carried out before the intramuscular medication administration procedure were satisfactory performed. Regarding the fourteen steps applied during the procedure, six of them were satisfactory performed (42.8%). With regards to the six steps applied after the procedure, three of them were satisfactory performed (50%). CONCLUSIONS Fragilities that negatively impact the intramuscular medication administration procedures in pediatric patients were identified in this study.
Objetivou-se identificar as convergências entre o Programa Nacional de Segurança do Paciente e a Promoção da Saúde no cenário hospitalar. Trata-se, portanto, de um estudo reflexivo desenvolvido com base em dois focos: Promoção da Saúde no Contexto Hospitalar e Convergências entre Segurança do Paciente e Promoção da Saúde. Observou-se que há um forte entrelaçamento entre as diretrizes e os objetivos propostos para se alcançar a segurança na assistência, preconizados pela política nacional, com aqueles anunciados pela Declaração de Budapeste, percebendo-se principalmente a imposição do sujeito como agente protagonista de sua saúde, por meio de autonomia e empoderamento, bem como compromisso em desenvolver condutas que visem à promoção da segurança do paciente, atuando no âmbito da educação, da prática clínica, da pesquisa e da cultura organizacional. Objective: to evaluate the practice of self-care performed by patients with systemic arterial hypertension inprimary health care. Methods: this is a descriptive and cross-sectional study, conducted with 92 individualswith arterial hypertension in a primary care unit. The data collection occurred through script and data analyzedusing descriptive statistics (frequency, mean and standard deviation) and through the understanding of theadaption between capacity and self-care demand. Results: it was identified as a practice of self-care: adequatewater intake, salt intake and restricted coffee, satisfactory sleep period, abstinence from smoking and alcoholism,continuing pharmacological treatment and attending medical appointments. As the demands: inadequatefeeding, sedentary lifestyle, had no leisure activities, self-reported stress, and limited knowledge. Conclusion:although patients performed treatment a few years ago, still showed up self-care deficits, highlighting the needfor nurses to advise and sensitize about the importance of self-care practice.
