In this study, Regression Tree Analysis (RTA) was used to predict and to determine the most important variables in predicting the slaughter weight of Ross 308 broiler chickens. Data for this study came from 224 chickens raised during three different seasons, namely spring (n=66), summer (n=66), winter (n=92). Second week body weight, shank length, shank width, breast bone length, breast width, breast circumference and body length were used to predict the slaughter weight. Results of RTA showed that among the seven independent variables only four were selected, namely; body weight, breast bone length, shank width, and breast circumference. These selected independent variables were more efficient than the others in predicting the slaughter weight. RTA indicated that the birds which had values of second week body weight >295.95 g, breast bone length >55.82 mm and breast circumference >14.18 cm or that of body weight ≤295.95 g, breast bone length >60.26 mm and shank width >8.32 mm could be expected to have higher slaughter weights.
Purpose: This paper aims to discuss sustainability in fleet management at companies considering simultaneously the three dimensions of sustainability, which are economic, environmental, and social, corresponding to the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) approach. Approach/Methodology/Design: This paper examines the subject and employs a theory-building-descriptive design. Three key themes in the aspect of sustainability and in terms of fleet management were examined: economic, environmental, and social. Findings: In today’s world, almost every company operates vehicle fleets to perform business requirements and irrespective of the size of vehicles, these companies need to execute some certain fleet operations under the phenomenon of fleet management. Fleet management entails a transition to a more sustainable model which should try to adopt economic, environmental, social dimensions. While the economic dimension of sustainability brings about a new model called the TCM, the environmental dimension constructs a road map to greener fleets and delivers quick wins that companies can easily implement in their agendas. The social dimension concerns the well-being of people and society which seeks to find a balance between their needs and the requirements of fleet management. Practical Implications: The paper recommends a subsequent study through an empirical way that would investigate the actual sustainability behaviours and initiatives of companies present in Turkey. Originality/value: In recent years, sustainability has become an interesting topic for scholars in many areas of research. However, the literature is lacking ample studies concerning sustainability in corporate fleet management. Therefore, the main contribution and novelty of this paper is to provide companies with policy advice regarding the three pillars of sustainability for their applications to vehicle fleet management.
SummaryWe compared Analysis of Variance (F) and the Welch test (W) with their respective permutation versions (PF and PW) in terms of Type I error rate (α) and test power (1-β) by Monte Carlo simulation technique. Simulation results showed that when the variances were homogeneous, the permutation versions of F and W tests displayed more reliable results in terms of protecting Type I error rate at nominal level, regardless of distribution shape and sample size. Violation of homogeneity of variances adversely affected all tests. Regardless of sample size and effect size, the PF test was slightly more powerful compared to the F test as long as the variances were homogeneous and the distributions were skewed (χ 2 (3) and Exp [0.75]). The PF and F tests had similar power levels when the distributions were symmetrical (Beta (5.5)). The W test was more powerful with homogenous variances, while the PW test was slightly superior with heterogonous variances except for unbalanced sample sizes (i.e., 5:10:15).
Digital transformation in supply chain management enables businesses to achieve competitive advantage by using their resources more efficiently, to make every stage of their supply chain smarter, more transparent and more efficient, to be closer to individual customer needs, to provide a significant increase in decision-making quality, and to become increasingly flexible in the near future. and provides the advantages of having new business models that will be efficient.Unfortunately, today digital transformation is at the stage of digitization rather than digital transformation due to the high initial investment cost and concerns about the success of applications. In this study, successful digital transformation applications implemented in supply chain management to guide companies and supply chains that have not yet entered the digital transformation process, the advantages provided by these applications and the difficulties of the digital transformation process are discussed.In the study, using qualitative data analysis, open-ended interview questions were applied to a total of 28 companies, and the answers were separated on the basis of sectors and applications and new business models were grouped according to sectors. The advantages of the companies and their supply chains with digital transformation and the difficulties faced in the transformation process are discussed jointly to cover all sectors. The study ends with an evaluation and brief summary of the findings.
The purpose of supply chain risk management is to understand the risks and their impacts, to take preventive actions and to determine plans to be implemented when risk events occur. Even if supply chain risks appear to be a minor risk event that was initially ignored, they can cause billions of dollars in costs and long-term supply chain disruptions at the macro level. The ship named Ever Given, which blocked the canal by accident during transportation in the Suez Canal on March 29, 2021, caused significant adverse effects in the supply chains, but also caused a break in the supply chain. In this study, the occurrence of the event is examined in terms of past marine accidents and supply chain risk management. In addition, alternative scenarios that occurred during the accident were examined, their effects on supply chains were determined, and suggestions were made against such accidents in the future. Furthermore, in the conclusion part of the study, the changes it will bring about in the supply chain approaches are included.
