Approaches in reading have widely emerged to fulfill the needs of learners to comprehend a text and to change their reading habit which is one of them is Inquiry Based Learning (IBL). Thus, this study aims to identify the role of Inquiry Based Learning to improve reading comprehension. The design of this study was mixed method with QUAN-qual model. The quantitative method used quasi-experimental design with control and experimental group including pre-test and post-test. It used purposive sampling technique to determine the samples who involved 40 students; 19 students in control class and 21 students in experimental class. This study was conducted at third semester students of English Education Department of STKIP Muhammadiyah Sidrap. The data were gained through test and non-test (questionnaire and interview). Then, the data were analyzed through SPSS 22. The significant findings of the recent study was the roles of IBL; developing students’ reading proficiency, engaging the students with complex texts, practicing students’ all levels of comprehension as they take a part in IBL phases, activating students prior knowledge, aligning inquiry process to students’ reading comprehension, providing students to work with team and enhancing students’ learning process. Critical thinking is one of the abilities that need to be given to students in 21 stcentury learning. If students do not have critical thinking ability, students will experience obstacles in achieving learning goals. Learning resources could facilitate students in enhancing critical thinking ability. This research aims to analyze and design electronic student worksheet material based on discovery learning model to enhance critical thinking ability. Electronic student worksheets are developed with the ADDIE model. The subject of this research is 8 th -grade students of Muhammadiyah 1 Pundong Junior High School. The instruments used were validation sheets, an observation guide, and an interview guide. The validation sheets were given to the material and media experts to assess the electronic student worksheet quality. Interviews were conducted towards teachers and students to gain information about the curriculum and students' characteristics. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions were drawn. The result of this research shows that electronic student worksheet needs to be developed with regard to the discovery learning model and students' characteristics. The electronic student worksheet is designed to enhance critical thinking ability. Further research could be conducted towards the development stages, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this study can be used as a guide for mathematics teachers in developing electronic student worksheet that makes students understand mathematics and have critical thinking skills simultaneously. The novelty of this research is to integrate critical thinking skills into electronic student worksheet. In addition, electronic student worksheet is designed according to the discovery learning model.
This research is motivated by a reality that is apprehensive and requires attention, namely the ease with which people are affected by news hoaxes (hoaxes), then easily spread the news through increasingly sophisticated social media without considering the truth or failure of the news. This indicates a lack of public understanding of hoaxes and what effects they will have. In fact, in the Qur'an, things like this are strictly prohibited. So, this is what encourages the writer to study more about hoax news in the perspective of the Qur'an. The theory or method that the writer uses to analyze this problem is the interpretation of maudhu'i / thematic. The conclusion that can be taken in the results of this study is a general description of hoax news, both in terms of the history and meaning of the word hoax, then knowing the verses of hoaxes in the Qur'an, and knowing the forms of hoaxes in the Qur'an and tabayyun simulations the Qur'anic perspective in dealing with news hoaxes, such as reading, studying, looking for clear references and asking those who are more understanding.
